Halloween Halls

There once was a Witch of Willowby Wood
And a weird, wild Witch was she!
With hands that were gnarled
And hair that was snarled
And a rickety, kickety knee
They say she could jump to the moon and back
But this, I never did see!

Ashley has me working with Pumpkin Nights, which only takes a few hours per day- but they are intense hours! I am fielding questions, answering emails, and keeping up on Social Media. One of the perks is we get to all attend Pumpkin Nights in SLC!
It was fun to go and see all the sites I've been "selling" all month. It really is a fantastic set-up and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We even got to see Romney and Austin at work!

We missed a hard-working Adren. Such is life when you have a job.

Matt and Abby tried to photo-bomb most of our pics. And succeeded!

Funny Vampire Adren with buck teeth instead of fangs.
The night of the big Geertsen Halloween party would conflict with Adren's first school dance date he was asked to. At least the grandparents could meet his cute date, Sammy. They were Vampires together. I did his makeup, which he thought a bit much, but later said he was glad because everyone else was decked in costume. They left just as our party arrived.

Paisley as a 50's gal. We found her sweater at DI, and I sewed a trusty circle skirt. Paisley made her own poodle pattern and applied it. Cute!

Gouldings!

Granny & Grandpa in their Halloween Costume

Clever Taylor costumes. So great!

The Geerts!

So great to have the gang all together!

The Whits! (Henry...)

It was so fun to hang and laugh together after a big meal. Sure love all these spooky peeps!
Here is the poem on the invite this year:

It’s the Year of the Ghost, 2019
Lend me your ear and I’ll say what I mean
There are many around us (we’re talking UNSEEN)
Now don’t be alarmed or full of fright, there’s one thing to do on a moonless night!
Dress as a Ghost- a familiar face! They’ll surely pass by you in their haste
I cannot guarantee unnoticed you’ll pass dressed as a Wizard, Unicorn, or Witch with sass
But you’re a brave soul- no doubt you are! Arrive with your posse by broom or car
You’ll eat, you’ll dance, you’ll carry on
You’ll survive this year... one by one...

BOO!

Zeke is way into an anime cartoon called Naruto(?) I call it Narwhal Tales (because it sounds similar and is fun to sing to the "Dragon Tales" tune. It's a family joke and quite the hit)
Anyway, he was sooo determined to be the main guy on that and finally found a way expensive costume. I told him I'd pay the amount I usually pay for a Halloween costume (around $10) and he can cover the rest. Which he did.
And then wore it daily, as he promised he would do after spending all his money on it.

Paisley's concentration face as she puts on her Halloween makeup. So cute.

I had a grocery pick-up at Walmart on Halloween morning. Don't you love going out on the town on Halloween to see people in cars and walking along in costume? This worker had a toilet seat on her head. I told her she looked great, she said it kept closing and smacking her in the face.
I dressed up for work, of course!
And then made it over for the glorious Halloween Parade!
Zeke was real proud that so many knew who he was...
Aw, these are the best years!

Now off to Trick-Or-Treat with friends: Abby, Sawyer, Zeke, Israel & Dalton. (another Narwhal Tale)
Only two of these kiddos will be left in Elementary next Halloween!

I made my usual soups that evening and Pumpkin Pie for Jonny. Paul and Sharon stopped by for a bit and we enjoyed a cozy evening at home~ until friends descended and things got a bit loud and crazy for me. That's when we retired to our bedroom and let the kids take over the downstairs.

And a Halloween treat for me: We finally cleaned out the rest of the garage after the Demolition Derby and can once again park in the garage!!!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
