Jon reserved us a Yurt in Goblin Valley for the first weekend in October way back in the summer during demolition days. I suppose he knew we'd need it. I didn't realize how very much I would need it, love every second and that we'd make some of the fondest memories as a family I will cherish forever.
Jon happened to reserve the very best Yurt- tucked away in our own private little canyon. The weather was just perfect and the red rock popped against the blue sky.
We all helped unpack the truck and then climbed around and explored until dusk.
It was especially nice for me to be back, but be able to relax with the fam!
We visited here several years ago as a family, for the day. It is such a neat place, my dream was to come back and walk around with no moon on a clear night and see the stars (which I was able to do on the Stake High Adventure months before) and then come again during a full moon and walk through the hoodoos with the bright moonlight and shadows. This was such a night! The moon was amazing!
This was sort-of a family birthday part for our newly 16 year old.
It was so magical walking around together. We had the whole place to ourselves! I told some scary stories and then some funny ones to help out Paisley.
Just as we piled back in the truck to go back to our yurt a huge young mens group pulled up. Perfect timing.
That night was chilly! We had dinner and treats around the campfire while Adren and Eli introduced us to some new tunes. Zeke kept us laughing with his funny comments. It was such a delightful evening together! We all got ready for bed- but that turned into a dance party in the Yurt. It had a heater- but it was still so cold! I lay shivering for the longest time. I kept thinking I'd get up and sit ON the stove heater, but finally dozed. Apparently everyone else was toasty.
All tidied (and rearranged better) as we head out!
Packing back up was a breeze, then we spent some more time exploring the fun hoodoos before heading back home. Best weekend getaway yet!
