Bathroom Makeover!

This is so exciting! After having a half-demolished bathroom with no door all summer, an almost 20 year old pedestal sink, I am finally able to tackle it! It sure is hard to find a big enough block of time to tackle such a thing.
I was all over the place with different tile options and different looks. Tile is pricey. Ouch. For such a tiny space, it sure adds up quickly. I knew I wanted to tile the walls and do away with baseboards, so that all adds up. I feel like the tile I settled on just sort of picked me as I began to rule out different options. I'm thrilled with how it all turned out!

I love this classic black and white floor. It has both whimsy and elegance to it. Perhaps watching Paddington had some influence?
I decided on a classic oversized white tile for the walls. It will be nice to just be able to disinfect and wipe clean, and not fret anymore about warped baseboards.

I played around with different heights for the tile line. I noticed too low shortens the room, too high swallows the room. I think I found the sweet spot!
I solved the constantly bumped toilet paper fixture. Boy am I tired of re-plugging and patching that! It looks real custom. There was something so refreshing covering up the old walls with this clean look.
I originally was going to do a black pencil tile trim detail around the room, possibly a Greek key, but it was making me go cross eyed! I decided on a white rounded bull-nose for my corners which has a clean look to it. How I ended up treating the walls, the black trim would have been too busy.
This was a lot of work! Because it is such a tight space, there are so many cuts! Tiling is lots of hunching, messy, mixing, dirty work. I just kept focused on the tile at hand,  knowing I'd get there inch by inch. Also, with the weather turning I was a bit on a time crunch. Ain't nobody wants to be out on a snowy porch sawing tile with ice water shooting at them.
Well, get there I did!
I present to you the worlds most impossible bathroom to photograph!
I had my eye on some pretty gorgeous dramatic floral wallpaper. Then I came across a blog that stopped me in my tracks. When I tried to find her wallpaper source I learned she had hand painted it! I can do that! The pattern and colors made me way more excited than the paper I had in my cart. Using her pics as my inspiration, I tackled the walls with the paint I had on-hand from previous projects. I listened to good tunes, good stories, and took my time. Over a few days I finished it and I am so happy how it turned out!

Fresh, dramatic and glam is the theme here. I love to peek in as I enter through the garage, and I love the snippet you see of the walls from out on the front lawn. Funny how things just morph how they're supposed to, isn't it?
