Little A turns ELEVEN.

We still call him little A, even though he's getting so tall. Recently he came home with holes in his shoes and wet socks. I didn't have time to go out that night for new shoes, so I found a pair of my Nike low-tops and told him to try them on. They fit him perfectly! We have the same size feet, people.
I love our Adren. He is such a mix of getting older and more mature, yet is still happy and content to play and do little kid things. He is getting more independent and ready to take on more responsibility, yet is still the biggest teaser. He's learning how to bake and cook more things- yet still needs to be reminded to clean up the mess. It reminds me of that Britney Spears song~ Not a girl, not yet a woman....
Ready to go downstairs and see the goods.

All the kids get sooooo excited for a Birthday!

Jon checked him out of school and they went together to pick out a bike. How cool is that??? He loves it.

 The cake! (cookie)
I was in full-blown Shingles mode this day. Not my favorite. Jon was able to take care of everything I just couldn't. He ran out and got some gifts, his cookie-cake, and you know what? It all works out just fine.
For his party, I thought it'd be fun to go ice blocking. The best place is Rock Canyon Park. He invited quite a few kids, and we got the invites out. When I called the park to make sure we were fine doing that, I learned they don't allow that anymore. So we were still holding a party kind of out of the way, for nuthin'. Oh, well. I came up with games to take advantage of that awesome hill.

We made paper airplanes and practiced flying them down. Some really soared!

There is plenty of running space for all kinds of fun games like cops and robbers (there were skulls in the bank to steal) Flag football, a water balloon toss etc. I brought the big orange cooler full of cold kool-aid, but it was such a warm day, those boys were sweaty and had that drained in no time! Of course we finished with silly string!

I really could not have done that without Jon helping me so much. Even looking at these pictures brings back the memory of that stabbing pain. Those shingles!
That night we lit and cut into the big cookie, which worked out real nice since Adren isn't a big fan of cake. He was so busy playing night games outside with neighbor kids we had to really drag him in for some quick singing and he was back out playing in no time.

He fell into bed tired and happy. We love Adren!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
