Young Womens

Some of the great youth in our ward doing baptisms on a glorious Saturday morning
At the end of summer I was called as the Young Women's president. I love it. I knew I'd love it and I do. I also knew something was coming. I'd just been thinking over some things and knew I needed to raise the bar in my life. I wanted to find more ways to teach the gospel to my children, be a better example and strengthen my relationship with my Savior. I just didn't know what steps to take, or what more I could do in this stage of my life. This calling is the perfect answer to all of those quandaries. It will help me stretch and grow and get out of my comfort zone- that is for sure! I also thought back to this past summer when Jon and I were shopping for mattress pads for the family camp-out. I was looking at blow-up mattresses and Jon said I should get the full-size, our tent will have plenty of room after all. The thought entered my mind that I may feel a little silly showing up at girls camp with such a big mattress, and stuck with the twin size.
I knew my councilors names while still in the office talking with the 1st councilor and Bishop. I went home and prayed about them. I just had to talk to mommy, I felt so overwhelmed and knew she'd been there- many times- and no one else would do to calm me and talk me through it. Little did I know my councilors were having the same thoughts over the summer as well. My secretary is above and beyond what I expected! These ladies are a real treat to work with and always seem to have an answer for me when I go to them stumped over something. This truly is the Lord's work, and I see His hand even in these small details.
The day I was to be sustained I was nervous. I entered sacrament meeting with a stomach full of butterflies. I just didn't know how all these young girls would react to the changes. I said a silent prayer that I would be able to focus on the meeting. The first line of the opening Hymn was an answer to that prayer~ Be still my soul, the Lord is on thy side.. That was exactly what I needed to hear! Of course, the Lord is on my side!
It's been busy and wonderful. I love these girls. I really feel like I have been blessed with a clear, strong love for these girls. They are true daughters of God and I am so impressed with them. They are facing so many challenges and I pray I can be a small nudge for them, to help guide them to make good choices over the next important years of their life so they can follow their path back to the Savior.
I am grateful I have been able to share so much of this calling with my children! I share with them lessons I am preparing and thoughts I have about the girls. My desire is that they see how much I love serving the Lord. Because I do! I love it.

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
