Easter 2012

I tried something different this year, and had the Easter Bunny come Friday night. So Saturday morning the kids woke up to this...
The balloons reminded me of jelly beans. Jon had helped me fill and hide a bazillion eggs the night before. They were everywhere.

And the hunt began right away!
I'd filled the baskets with green cellophane sheets this year and was just thrilled at the absence of shredded grass all over the place. See? I live and learn.
I found these funny straws filled with chocolate and strawberry beads- you stick it in your milk and suck- presto! Chocolate or strawberry milk! (Zeke put all of his in at once)
It was nice doing this Saturday morning. We were able to take our time and hang out. I have memories of hurrying the kids along, chocolate dripping on fresh Easter clothes, not to mention fearing the kids have missed the whole meaning. I think I'm on to something.

That evening was the dying of the eggs! I set everything up while the kids were outside playing. The little friend who used to live behind us showed up. Eli spotted him just walking down the road. He'd been down at the school for a birthday party and wanted to come see Adren and Eli. It was really good to see him! We've missed them! We had him join us for the festivities and got all caught up.
That night after everyone went to bed, I set up for Sunday morning.
Everyone was in desperate need for new Sunday pants, shoes, and finally some scripture cases! Adren's Book of Mormon needed to be replaced as well as more copies for family reading.

It turned out really nice. We gathered together in the morning, and talked about why we celebrate Easter and the Resurrection. Then the kids reverently walked down to the family room where soft music was playing. I like how it set a more reverent mood for Easter Sunday.
Christine was great to send over a couple of dresses for Paisley, they were perfect for Easter! I decided to give them both. I found a white hat, gloves, purse and shoes at the store while hunting for the boys and just couldn't resist! I never thought I'd get her these things, but when I saw them I thought about how much she'd LOVE something like that, and probably wont next year. So I did it. She looked so pretty!

Eli looked so handsome in his new outfit. A couple Sunday's ago he was called up front in Primary and I sat there cringing at his flood pants, dirty white ankle socks, scuffed shoes- untied and on the wrong feet- I do care!

And Adren, always so handsome in his suit. He got a fresh white shirt and tie, new shoes and black socks!
Little Zeke, being the third boy was in need of fresh Sunday clothes as well. Those hand-me-downs need to be handed away. I love my little nursery boy in shorts! He likes his little monkey backpack. I tucked some paper and crayons inside. He looks so cute carrying it along, and right after sacrament runs to hang it up.
It was a wonderful Sunday. I feel so blessed to have this sweet family. We really enjoyed our day, just being at home together.
