Ookey, Spookey Halloween!

Lot's of fun to be had this month. I picked up some dollar store Halloween dolls and mentioned it to Jon one night. I was going to put them under their pillows as a surprise at bedtime, but Jon threw together a really fun scavenger hunt at the last minute. He had them hunting around the house for all sorts of clues I never would have thought of. They enjoyed playing with them at the end and I packed them away for next year.
Next on the list is carving pumpkins! We picked these up the weekend before Halloween. Jon is always good to dive right in and carve his own and help the kids with theirs.  I'm always good to get those seeds separated, cleaned up and roasted! Mmmmmmm......
I just get a kick out of little Zeke diving right in to everything. Such a big boy!

All carved and ready for the reveal!
Oooooooh!

We are officially ready for Halloween night!
Another must is attending Pumpkin Land. The big boys had  already gone, Eli on a school field trip and Adren with scouts. Paisley kept asking about it and was set on daddy taking her. So Jon took Paisley and Zeke on a little Pumpkin Land outing.
Those pigtails!

Adorable. Really.

One night Zeke would NOT go to bed and was being so cute prancing around while Jon and I were hanging out. That boy...
Zeke breaking out the wigs
I didn't get a good picture of Zekes costume, but he kept taking it off, then fell asleep when everyone went out trick or treating, so I'll try it again next year. He was the Incredible Hulk. I found a mans green sweatshirt for $2 that I was able to cut up and sew in to a sweatshirt and sweat pants for him, I drew on muscles, added some ripped shorts and shirt and he was good to go. He didn't get it, and as soon as I'd get him dressed, he'd shed it all. Oh well.
I got to help in Adren's class on Halloween for his class party. I came up with some games for the kids and then helped him and Eli into their costumes.
Adren at his school parade. He was a Halo guy- this is a mans costume I had to make smaller for him, but he loved it.
Eli was a scary Ninja. He looked darling!

Here's Paisley breaking into the wigs.
I had to get these guys into a project on Halloween because the day was just tooooo long for little Paisley. She wanted her cousins to appear and go trick or treating already!

Hobo Jon ready to take the kids out.
What is Halloween without the Whitmore's??? It's all glee and excitement when they arrive in costume, ready to head out. As usual, they loaded up on candy!
We had Granny and Grandpa Taylor and Grandma and Grandpa Geertsen over for soup and craziness while I handed out candy. I love staying home and handing out candy.
These are a little gruesome, but the kids came up with cutting up my red yarn and taping it on themselves to look like blood.

Happy Halloween 2011!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
