Cozy

Paisley has a "cozy". I made it for baby Eli's crib, and I chose a green sheet because I didn't know if he'd be a boy or a girl, and figured I could work with green. When Paisley was born and I'd lay her down into her crib, on top of the green blanket, I noticed she'd reach for the little white yarn ties. Sometimes I'd put one in her hand or I'd guide her hand to a tie.

Fast forward to today, and that cozy is a part of her. She will comment to me every now and then: "Mommy, I just love my cozy." She rubs the yarn on her cheek as she sucks her thumb. (this is similar to what I would do)

When she comes in from playing crying because she is hurt and I tell her to come see me, she first asks where is her cozy, finds it, and then comes to sit with me. As you can imagine, this thing gets absolutely filthy, ripped, the yarn ties come out, and overall can get downright embarrassing. I've stitched it over so many times, I add more yarn ties~ and make them longer, I put the batting back in etc. So one evening as I was stitching it together enough to wash it and not have it come apart in the dryer, I decided to "dress it up" for her. I added some glitter pink ribbon and lace. You'd think it was Christmas morning when I presented it to her. She loves her "pitifull cozy". (anything beautiful is pronounced pitifull)
