Hard to believe our baby is two! And there is no one younger! Wow! This is a first! As I ran to the store to gather a few items I felt all nostalgic, walking down the baby boy isles, it's been a little while and memories came back from when I would thoughtfully think of what a baby Adren or Eli would enjoy playing with. I feel I have a little more direction now. I know what I wouldn't enjoy underfoot, and I go from there.
The morning of we were all so excited for the little guy. He could feel the excitement and was very familiar with the birthday song, as it is one of his favorites to sing, pretend to blow out candles, then clap and "Yay!" Tooooo sweet!
He really took it all in. He'd stare at his sign, point to the gifts. Jon and I were dying because he kept looking back and saying, "Tank yooooo." Melt your heart!
His day fell on conference and it was real nice to lay around and watch him play with his treasures. The other kids enjoy a new toy just as much, and the day was spent playing and singing. (Happy Birthday, of course)
We had all four grandparents over for dinner and cake that evening. I served BLT's, soup and salad. We had to sing a few times, because Zeke enjoyed singing to himself and blowing out those candles.
Am I nuts to put gum balls on a two year-old's cake? Yes.
When you ask, "Zeke, how old are you?" he holds up a hand and replies, "DOO!" He's a keeper.
