Paisley has had some major break-through's at school and I am so happy about it! She has not been able to make the "K" sound. Instead she makes the "T" sound for this. "Cookie" is "Tut-tee". Her teacher is so skilled and knowledgeable in getting the kids to make these sounds. Four times a month she has a private session, and last month her teacher told me she'd like Paisley saying the "K" sound before school is out in May. I really thought this was setting the bar high, since I've tried so many times and she just gets frustrated. The first session she got her to make the sound 4 times! I was shocked! I've never heard her say the "K" sound before! By the next session she was saying it 50 times! Now at the last session she is saying words correctly like: bonk, neck, pink, pack and bank. It sounds so cute because she over emphasizes the sounds, but it's unbelievable to me to hear her say these! Next is to get her to use them in every day conversation while she's talking~ we aren't there yet. I can see now by summer break she will have that sound down! To sit in class next to little Paisley in her wacky outfit, purse tucked under arm as she puts her soft little hand in mine and keeps looking up at me with those brown eyes and lashes so proud of herself, is something I look forward to every week. I am amazed at the improvement I've seen in her just since January. I'm so grateful she has another year before kindergarten so I can keep her all to myself for a little longer.
