Adren turns SEVEN!

There was so much excitement leading up to Adren's seventh birthday. I think Eli was just as excited! I kept wondering what to do for a party and settled on having Adren invite his friends over for games and treats. I made up some invites and he delivered them out over a couple of days. He brought a treat to share at school and his teacher had the class create a birthday wish book for him, which was so cute! In fact, Adren said when he got it it made him feel like crying because it was so nice! (I wrote a note to his teacher and told her so)

He invited about 14 kids (gulp) so I got busy deciding on games they could play outside and keep busy. Since his birthday is October 6th, I decided to do several "Halloween" themed games.
The first was "Black Cat tag" where I cut long strips of black material for the "tails" and had them tuck it in the back of their pants. They had to run around and try to pull out other cats tails without anyone pulling out theirs. Next was "Zombie Attack". I filled a bunch of water bottles about 1/2 full and drew several different kinds of zombies on each one. There was a purple team and an orange team, and I spray painted rows in the grass and sewed up some bean bags. They had to try to knock down the "zombies". If they missed, the zombies would advance, if they they knocked them down, the zombies would get back up and stay in place- because we all know zombies don't die. It was a hit!

The next game was inside, a "Mummy Wrap" where two teams competed in trying to be the first to wrap someone in a roll of toilet paper. Gifts, cake and ice cream, party favors etc., you get the idea. It had been raining all day and was quite cold, but what to do? We pressed on outside. At one point one little friend sat in the wet grass and took off his socks to wring them out, and put them back on!

Later that evening Paul and Sharon came over for some singing and cake and ice cream. Granny and Grandpa had come over the day before to wish him a happy day.

I think Adren felt special and is so excited to be SEVEN! I feel like this is a big year, his last to get ready to be baptized and confirmed. He is a real special boy and we love him so much! I'm so proud of him and love watching him grow and learn and make friends. He really loves being in first grade and makes friends so easily. We love our Adren!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
