Adren goes to Syracuse!

Technically, Hudson, NY. The Hudson River runs right by his appartement. I sure had him in my thoughts and prayers aaalll day when he flew out. I wondered how his travels were going. It is comforting knowing he is always with a group!

Can you believe he and little Megan Thornock were in the MTC together for a day. She's headed to Washington and had just arrive at the MTC. They both thought it very neat they got to see each other! So sweet.
And now I check Instagram all day to see what Adren's mission Presidents have posted. It is such a treat to see anything Elder Geertsen!
Of course I have watched the video of him arriving at the airport to their welcome one hundred times.
Something extra special is that the Woods host these Elders for dinner every Monday night. Sister Wood is the Relief Society President in their tiny branch (they call it a twig.) She is a convert herself and holds a special place in her heart for the missionaries. They have investigators in their home and feed everyone. What I love most is that she takes a lot of pictures and gives me details of their visits. I tell her she is the angel my momma heart needs right now. I am so grateful to her for being a touchstone and loving these Elders!
Elder Geertsen and Elder Konold! Adren has been so lucky to have such a great companion right off the bat. They both play guitar and have so much in common. Elder Konold is from California.
I had to zoom in on this picture and get a better look at Adrens Book of Mormon. How great is that???

My goodness!

Dinner at the Woods!

I sure love our Monday phone calls. I have sooooo many questions.

Adren has been trying to figure out how to get his hands on his own guitar. Elder Konold already had one, but apparently there is not a good guitar store nearby. I really don't want to ship one of his because of cost- and his are nice ones!

Leave it to Grandpa Geertsen to catch wind of this and he sent him a guitar so that he wouldn't be without one come transfers. Soooo sweeeeet!

Everything the Gentries post on Instagram I screen shot so that I can zoooooom in and find my Elder Geertsen :)

So far, Adren is loving every minute. His words, "I'm thriving, Mom". I told him before he left that his late nights and early mornings are going to make the beginning of his mission rough and he told me he has adjusted just fine. He says he is super comfortable walking up and talking to people and has learned to not take it personally if people aren't ready to hear his message. He likes us to ask him missionary-related questions on our call. "Do any of you have questions about being a missionary?" This came during a call where Eli was updating him on new XBox games and Zeke kept playing with the filter and turning us all into cats. Good grief. It is much easier to keep it together now (I started crying once and have really tried to NOT do that again.) He always ends his calls giving us a family challenge or invites us to do something to help us grow closer to Christ.           What a guy!

We barely recognize him! Ha!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
