Our Paisley girls turns TWELVE.

Oh, my goodness- Oh, my goodness!!! (This is something Paisley and I say sometimes, 'ode to Annie, the movie.) But recently I'm saying it because my little pixie girl, my Princess P is turning TWELVE. Oh, my GOODNESS!!! This is a big birthday and she knows it! She would say things like, "This is my last Activity Days today! ~ This is my last day in Primary! ~ This is my last Wednesday where I don't go to Mutual!" I went in to Primary on her last day and listened to her testimony. She talked about an experience in school where she was struggling with something and then after a personal prayer, suddenly wasn't and at that moment she felt the love of her Savior and knew she was loved and watched over. I love that she acknowledges that and appreciates that she is watched over and so loved.

She invited seven friends to come over on her birthday for a late night. I wish I took a picture of the darling invitations she made up. (She strongly believes invitations should be homemade.) She wrote all the info on a piece of brown paper, then slipped that into a frosted paper pocket with a handle that looked like a cold mug of root beer. She glued white pom-pom balls on the top for the "foam", and cut out a straw out of white and yellow striped paper sticking out the side. It was very detailed and darling. (and implied root-beer floats would be had.) She had all sorts of fun ideas for her party, but we had to narrow down what would fit into only three hours.
Paisley set her alarm to 6:00 am and made sure everyone woke up. She and Zeke had choir bright and early that morning at 7am sharp so she needed an early start. She waited patiently in the hallway for everyone to get awake enough to go downstairs for the festive room.

She was most anxious for a penny board she had her eye on, some new clothes and always Lego's. I ran in to Walmart last minute and spotted the coziest jacket you've ever felt in your life (she's a cozy lover) hanging in the Womens section. I thought I'd grab it for her. Wouldn't you know, this was the gift she adores, wears everywhere and I've had several moms say, "My daughter says she needs a cozy jacket just like Paisley's..." Funny how it's always the random last minute stuff that is the winner.

I whipped up french toast that morning (as requested), tucked a little wrapped chap stick in her lunch bag and sent her off with a gift bag full of Twinkies to hand out to her class.
I grabbed a bunch of pizza's and crazy bread for the root-beer floats and then those crazy girls arrived. I say crazy because I think every girl screamed at the top of her lungs and jumped up and down the entire time she was here. They ate, they had a dance party, they decorated gratitude journals, they had a dance party, they screamed and danced while they watched Hotel Transylvania 3 and ate popcorn with candy mix-ins. Paisley was born at 9:10pm so they all ran outside in the frigid 30 degrees and screamed the countdown and then screamed/sang to her while having a dance party in the dark. That was sweet. That was also the longest three hours of my life.

The girls left, I vacuumed up ten pounds of popcorn and put the room back together and we sang and cut her berry cheesecake (it's her favorite!) because there was too much screaming and dancing to do it with the girls.
It was her best birthday ever!

Paisley is both adorable and gorgeous. I sometimes can't take my eyes off my beautiful brown-eyed girl. She has the kindest heart, not one ounce of guile in her. I love that about her. She assumes the best of people and is always concerned about others feelings. She loves to watch shows with me or the family- or alone. She loves shows. I like how she sniffs everything. She says everything has a smell and that is how she learns about it. Like a cat. And we all know how bonkers she is about cats.
I just love my girl. She really is the best. And now she will go into Young Women's on Sunday! And she will start going to Mutual on Wednesdays! And she'll go to Camp Mia Shalom in the summer!
OH, MY GOODNESS!!! Time for a dance party.

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
