In the Heart of Winter...

January has come, school is back in session. Just like that, the Holidays are behind us.
And it is COLD out there, people!

It's crazy hair day!
Paisley did a chocolate doughnut on a plate with sprinkles and icing.
Zeke did rows of curls and two little pig tails at the back. Crazy!
We all did some spa treatments to re-hydrate the winter skin...
Paisley brushed out my hair. That I cut too short. And bleached too blond. Sigh....
Zeke came along with Jon and I to Eli's basket ball game. These games are brutal because they start at 9pm and it's -20 degrees outside. (It feels like it's that cold anyway- but I'm not joking about the late time!) I have to chuckle at Zeke. That Narwhal onesie goes on pretty much right after school no matter his plans for the night. He brought a $5 bill from his earnings from walking Copper to treat  himself to the dollar treats in the school's vending machines. He bought 5 things. He's having a better time than I am, that is for sure.
The Sista's and I were able to sneak away for the much anticipated, much loved St. George trip. Paul and Sharon were so sweet, once again to oblige us. It was the best time with all the usual: Shopping, eating, a movie and chatting until the wee hours of the morning. Nothing better. Nothing. I am already dreaming of the next time we can get away!

While we were down there it was a blood moon. Just trust me, it was Neat-o!
Love these Sista's more than anything! (that's you too, Eliza!)

Paisley texted Daddy for some pictures for her Family Tree. I thought the ones he sent were so great!

As if Paisley could get even more adorably beautiful, she got GLASSES! Oh my goodness!

I dropped a gaggle of friends off at the Rec to get their winter wiggles out. Their happy chatter in the car made me smile.
When Jon and I aren't bundling up in the cold to see Eli play, we are bundling up to see Adren play at the rec. with his team. They aren't great, but Adren is always fun to watch.

More chillin' at the house with friends. This is the longest January in the history of time. Records have been broken and we all marvel each day that it is still January.
At least I don't live in Chicago!

I have a feeling it really is -20 when they go to their son's games at 9pm.

Speaking of more games- here's our Eli in action!

Here is one way to pass the time with your teens when there are 48 days in January- Share Memes! Apparently that is what the kids are doing these days, so one afternoon we sat around chuckling stupidly at what we could drum up:

And finally- I shared our Dad's dream- to live in a tiny house! This is what it will look like:
Har-Har. But really, Where are you, February???

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
