Merry Christmas, 2013!

Oh, joy! Christmas Eve has arrived! We are ready! The work it takes to pull this day off has increased loads and loads. I do this to myself. But, it is worth the planning, stewing, fussing, sneaking and shopping. The days leading up to Christmas break were crazy! The kids needed so many things to bring to school, teacher gifts and programs, I was really looking forward to slowing things down. This is my personal deadline to be ready as well, so the break was welcome to us all.
Christmas Eve we went bowling to burn off some of the excitement and to fill the time until evening. Soon enough, it was time to pile in the car and see the lights! The Taylor's joined us again. Driving through and seeing the familiar displays, I just can't believe it has already been an entire year!
Our house was soon filled with Grandparents Taylor's and Geertsen's, the Whitmore's arrived as us and the Taylor's arrived for a yummy Christmas Eve dinner, icing cookies for Santa and the Christmas Eve program. Lot's of squealing!

I love having the house full of family, kids and all that yummy excitement! Soon it was time for everyone to head home to their Christmas houses while we finished up the evening gathered around our tree. We opened the gifts from eachother, Granny and Granpa, and the much anticipated Christmas Eve jammies and cozy robes!

The house was filled with that magic of Christmas as the kids were tucked into bed. I am just as excited! Eeeeeeeeee!

Boy, does morning come fast! (yaaaaaaawn) The kids were bouncing off the walls and so excited to get downstairs and see what had been left. Is there ever a more exciting moment than this???
I love Christmas Day! I love Christmas break, for that matter. All the rushing about is done, and nothing left to do but lounge in PJ's and enjoy the chaos.

Eli's Lego castle. This took him days to build, and was super neat!

This took seconds to destroy by little brother and days to rebuild, with help from Dad.

Adren with his Lego creation.

Notice he's making the same poses?

What a blessing to have my sweet family around, and the house filled with the peace and Joy the holidays bring. I never dreamed I would live such a blessed life. I was chatting with the kids about how sometimes it's fun to not have something in particular to wish for, that sometimes just being surprised you find you get something even better than what you could have wished for. I found that to be true with my life. It's turned out even better than what I wished for. The love I feel from my Savior is so strong as it surrounds me. I know He Lives! I know he loves me and watches over me. I feel it so strongly as I am surrounded by my happy family. I know by living my life, learning to love my Savior, I am happy and blessed in more ways than I thought could make me happy. Merry Christmas!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
