Christmas is coming...

We are decking the halls...

Notice even Sookie has a stocking.

Decorating gingerbread houses...
Visiting real gingerbread houses...
This was actually a really fun day. The kids got up and ready for school, then on the way I surprised them with the Festival of Tree's instead!

Love the Little House love
We topped off our day with a movie~ Despicable Me 2. The kids were dying to see it, and it had really taken over the Festival of Tree's theme, so we had to see what it was all about. Kinda funny, if I do say so.
We're hanging our stockings...
And putting together fun Christmas puzzles that come in the mail from Granny and Grandpa...
We picked names this year for the first time! The kids were so excited for this new tradition, and it was so sweet to see them secretly creating little gifts for each other.
And super exciting to watch them pop up one by one under the tree.

We gathered together for our fun, but somewhat sad little Family Christmas party. It was a far cry from the war-ball extravaganza's in years past, but as you can see, we just like to be together.
Jon started a new tradition in our family this year. One night we had a mysterious knock at the door... to find our own family elf! Yep, we are one of those! He came with a fun book to read and instructions. The kids named him Buddy Ho-Ho Goodfellow. I was just as humored as the kids the rest of the month to find where he'd moved to and what he'd been up to. He was a real highlight of the month I'd say, and since talked of fondly. We haven't seen him since Christmas Eve, but assume he'll be back next year.

The kids were mad to find he'd finished off a plate of neighbor goodie gifts overnight.

We put together and delivered neighbor and teacher gifts. This year I wrapped a pomegranate like an ornament with a poem. Good stuff!
Don't you love "White Christmas" going in the background. We had to watch all the classics!
Even Sookie cozied right up to the Holidays, our first with her.
We attended Adren's class Christmas concert...

Then celebrated the LAST day of school in 2013! Always seems to be perfect timing for a little breather. The kids are sooo very excited! And I must admit, I am too!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
