I'm grateful Paisley still had a whole week to go after the boys first day. I needed those days to mentally prepare. Every time one of my babies starts kindergarten I feel so sentimental, a little queasy and super excited for me, for them.
Paisley was over the moon excited for her first day, and has been telling anyone and everyone that she got four kindergarten shots and she's going soon! It was getting so disappointing for her each day to try to understand how many days she still had left, so we had to do a countdown.
The morning arrived soon enough, and we were ready! Backpack loaded with items needed by the teacher, forms filled out, shoes located, and one darling outfit!

When it was time to go I was frantically trying to find my sunglasses. I cannot drop a child off to kindergarten without sunglasses! Phew, found them. As I drove little P to the school, I couldn't stop staring at that giddy face in my rear view mirror. I want to remember that face on her wedding day.
The drop-off went great. We gave each other a big hug, watched her hang her backpack, big smile and wave, and she was off. (this is where those sunglasses come in handy)

Driving home I thought of how this is the first day to many years of excitement, discouragement, happiness, joy, sadness, heartbreak, worry, anxiety, stress, relief, friendships- the best years of her life. She has no idea.
Meanwhile, back at home, Zeke has some time to kill and is not used to having the house to himself. Here is how he passed some of his time on that first day.

Best of luck, little Miss Paisley! We'll be here for you all along the way!
