This boy is obviously growing and getting older right before our eyes and I just can't believe it! Nine is old!
He was so excited for his birthday, especially a friend party. (gulp) Adren is into all things ARMY right now and really wanted an army party.
I got to thinking and planning, and it all turned out pretty cool, if I do say so myself.
I thought he looked so cute and happy heading off to school with his Birthday treat bag.
On to his party!
For one game we split everyone into two teams. I painted camouflage stripes on everyone's face and everyone got a dog tag and had to give themselves a name. They had important missions they had to complete. They had to search for camouflage packages hidden all over our yard and into the neighbors yard.
Both teams packages were hidden together, so they had to be sneaky about it when they found a hiding place. They had to come up with a plan to keep a watch out and distract the other team so the other team wouldn't know they'd found one. Then they had to have a "safe place" where they could take the package and open it. Inside each package were things like an army vest, a camo bandana, weapons and tools an army guy would need. By the end of the game they were all decked out in full army wear. The boys really got into this- rolling and crawling on the ground, they came up with hand signals- it was cute!
Another game was to recover soldiers Missing In Action. The front lawn was scattered with green Army men they had to find. Also, they had to "bandage" up one member of their team using an entire roll of toilet paper, then drag him on a towel to safety across the back yard.
They each got a can of silly string, it seems that is always a hit. We made icecream in a bag~ to show that soldiers need to know how to pack and make their own food.
By the end of the party the backyard was a mess~ typical boy craziness. But everyone loved it, especially Adren.
The next day (Saturday) We celebrated his real birthday. He shared it with a lovely Conference weekend.
The other kids are just as excited for a birthday and new gifts to share.
We sure love our big/little A. He is growing up to be a thoughtful, sweet boy.
