Just a few things to squeeze in before the Holidays officially start~
Jonny bought us tickets to Depeche Mode forever ago. It is another of those things that pops up sooner than you realize.
DM is a good time. They are entertainers and know how to work a crowd. I think it was the 3rd time I've seen them. I used to have a 4 foot poster of them in my room. As you may know, I am done with concerts, but Jonny really wanted to go together so I obliged. Of course, once I am there with the energy of the crowd and all the familiar songs blasting and seeing the band live- I'm having a great time! When talking to Eliza about it she said, "I can't think of DM and not think of you and Jon!" Depeche Mode and Jonny...
I can't help but start adding some fresh garland and little things here and there as I pick them up around town throughout the house for the holidays. I always feel like I need to hold back because Paisley likes to get through one holiday before starting the other. But to me, Thanksgiving and Christmas is kind of a combo deal.
What you can't see here is that I put the tree up! I bought a new faux tree this year! The past few years we have put up real trees - which smell amazing, and picking them out is so fun. But they get so dry so fast! Within a week they are droopy and making a mess. I don't know what the trick is. I feel like I've tried them all. Once the tree I've had my eye on went on sale, I grabbed it. When it arrived, I figured I may as well get it up. I love it! You'll see...
I love our Monday night calls with Adren. It is always an extra treat when Eli can hop on during his break at Chipotle. I love our changing family sooooo much!
I think I mentioned the combination pants I made for him. His friend Oliver freaked and needed a pair. he sent Zeke home with two pairs of pants and combined them. I think they are even bigger! I love that for them.
I was so looking forward to Thanksgiving this year on the Taylor side. It feels like it has been a while since I've seen everyone and I was missing my family! It also fell on my birthday, so it felt extra special. Jonny volunteered to bring the turkey because he ordered a turkey from our neighbor who smokes them and wraps them in bacon. Then he realized it was like 5 pounds. Not enough meat for our big crowd! No worries, he grabbed another and got it going in the roaster that day. I spent the days leading up making my rolls (3x!) a birthday cake for Granny (white chocolate rasberry!) and the gravy. The gravy is a bit sweaty! I ended up roasting some chicken thighs and veggies for dinner the day before so I could have more broth to use. You can't run out of of gravy on Thanksgiving, and since I was the only one bringing it, I over did it.
Of course, Ashley had the house festive and fabulous in every way. The tables! The greenery and candles! It was all so gorgeous!
It is always so fun as everyone arrives and for cousins to see each other. I sure love all of these people like crazy!
Dinner was delicious of course. So many pies and treats. It is always fun to just chat and get caught up with the sista's and nieces and nephews. Cash did some feats of skill. Kate's boyfriend made an appearance. I held the new sweet babies. The best kind of birthday I could ask for!
We all took family pics before we headed out:
I am so grateful I have these people. Happy Thanksgiving to the best family evah!
