Zeke was at a friends the night before his class Valentines party so we did not figure out a Valentine box. It wasn't until the next morning in bed I remembered we didn't do anything! Zeke responded that it was fine, he'd just bring a plastic grocery bag and not hand anything out. He's my baby, and it's his last year of exchanging school Valentines. And I've seen those kids walk in with the grocery bags and it makes me sad. I jumped up and started thinking real hard about what we had on-hand. (Practically nothing.) I emptied a box I am using and grabbed some kind of Valentine-y paper and wrapped while Zeke got ready. He liked where I was going and added some paper towel tubes and eyes. It turned into a "Love Bug" real quick. We hurried off to Family Dollar for some mini candy bars to hand out, and he was good to go! As I dropped him off I glanced at the clock and realized he would not be late after all as we had feared, and exactly 30 minutes ago we were both in bed! I then went on reminiscing all the years of the kids sitting at the island with construction paper and glue, crafting and creating. It's been a good run!
I freshened up the shelves and other areas in the house. It needs to be done every so often, and I enjoy the different combinations of the same stuff.
My Valentines Day was a day packed full of meetings. I was able to get all set up after my early morning meeting while the house still slept. I had made a batch of sugar cookies the day before and iced them. I enjoyed watching everyone's face light up as they came down one by one and remembered it was Valentines Day.
Jonny made a delicious pasta dinner and we all toasted our love for each other.
