The end of the school year finally arrived. I say finally because pretending to do school work every day is exhausting. The kids were sad to turn in the Chrome books, but were more than happy to if that meant the jig was up. The Elementary did a cute parade drive-by through the neighborhood. Paisley and I waved and cheered out on the porch while Zeke hid inside. "It's weird that all these teachers know where I live!"
Other than me working my last day (knowing I would not be going back next year as Lunch Clerk) the school year ended quietly for us with a limp and a whimper.
And now, more of our spring yard! Each year we add a few more bushes to replace or fill in here and there. I'm liking a more established yard~ Much less maintenance~
This ground cover will be bursting with little white flowers any day now. I love it!
However, the tree in front of the garage doesn't look so hot...
Three new Amigos. Grow tall, my friends.Jon and the big boys went on a camping overnight-er, which meant we had the house to ourselves! Eeeeeeee!!! We made a yummy dinner and watched movies. Zeke had spent the day on a neighborhood scavenger hunt, taking pictures of his finds in hopes to win. He did! A $25 Amazon gift card!
I still think of that dreamy weekend. So quiet and clean...
We had a family gathering! Ashley and Cade hosted a big Sunday dinner at their house. It was so lovely to all be together! With Abby's birthday the next day, I made her a delicious vanilla cream strawberry birthday cake. She wasn't there, so we ate it for her.
The first thing on my summer Mom agenda (after sprucing up the chore charts.) Is getting the kids organized on making dinners. I have them pick two dinners at a time they will be making, and they each take one night a week. (So I grocery shop for two weeks at a time.) Friday is always pizza night, I do that one. They all voted to stay and help clean up together, as opposed to the one who made dinner cleans up. It's been so great! They have to be home from wherever they've wandered and starting dinner at 5:30. I've been impressed with what they want to cook, and despite me sometimes typing up some quick instructions for them, they have pulled it off quite well.
And I'm not making dinner every night.
In case you're wondering, Pandemic 2020 is still going strong...
