50 Years! This is a big one. I remember driving to Granny and Grandpa Woolf's in the middle of the night to set up a bride and groom on their front lawn on their 50th anniversary. Us Sista's knew we just had to plan something for this milestone! Originally Abby had suggested we have a lovely dinner on the back patio of the church house on Stadium Avenue~the exact place of their reception 50 years ago. But, with the pandemic and all church's closed that was not possible... Unless you are a Bishop! Matt was able to secure their church in Heber, so we put together our plan.
I must say, the planning was certainly not this simple. My goodness, we went back and forth, re-thinking the venue, the menu, even the date! It was exhausting, but we got there, people!
When I arrived to the church Matt and Abby had it set up so beautifully! It was all decorated in their wedding colors, orange and pink. They had set up the tables like a reception dinner, and a tent for the cake cutting. Abby made some delicious wedding cakes! We bustled around, putting my pom-poms and table ware out, and bringing in food. So much food!
Abby and I went outside to adjust the welcome balloons when Mommy and Daddy drove up. We hurried back inside, "They're HERE! They're HERE!" We all spontaneously formed a row for them to walk through and cheered. It was so special when they entered, a room full of love and festivities!
Eliza even wore the exact dress Granny Woolf wore at the reception! What a great touch!
The video of their life was playing, which was so fun to have on loop for all the cousins to see.
We had a wonderful Cafe Rio style dinner!
Everything was so lovely!
I love this family, and I am so grateful for these wonderful parents! It was a truly special night I will always remember, just so much gratitude and so neat to honor and pay tribute to them!
After dinner we gathered to hear stories of their wedding day, their testimony of family and they spoke of their love for each other. It meant so much to me and I felt so grateful for my kids to be there, influenced by their grandparents.
Abby had collected memories from all those grand kids and had them come up to read them. But first they had to pull a firecracker!
Then we had them cut their cake!
I thought it so funny that they smashed in their faces. I wasn't expecting that!
Then we dimmed the lights, cranked the tunes and danced! We had Mommy and Daddy start. Then we all took turn with them.
What a great night! Sure love you, Mommy and Daddy!
