Paisley girl turns EIGHT!

Paisley ran to the car after school most excited to show me what happened at school that day!
Paisley was so excited to turn 8! This is such a special birthday, she enjoyed making a countdown until the big day. Paisley is such a sweet, tenderhearted girl. She has such empathy for people, animals, insects~ even characters in a cartoon she'll cry over. I love our sweet Paisley, and it has been so fun to watch her learn and grow these past eight years.
Since her birthday fell on a Sunday, she got to spread out her big day to TWO days, the Saturday before. She wanted a friend party~ she requested a tea party and named all the things she's done in years past. I realized I do the exact same party each year, so that is what she expects. I decided to mix it up this year. She handed out 20 invites to friends in her school and primary class, as well as a few neighbors she plays with regularly.
The table ready with "fairy sandwiches" to nibble while decorating marshmallow pops.
It's always hard to know how many will actually come~ In our experience it's usually a little more than half. I decided to do as much as I could out in the garage for crowd control.
Well, they were ALL able to make it! (gulp)
We always start our parties with punching balloons in the backyard

It was super bonkers, but you know girls are much more manageable than boys, so it actually was a little refreshing!
Here's the plus side to having 20 girls at your birthday party. It was more than Christmas! Paisley lined everything up in the family room and there they stayed on display for a few days. I made a mental note to tuck a few of mine away for Christmas...

Sookie LOVES Paisley! She's the only one in the family who she will actually go to and flop down on. She always sleeps with her. Paisley keeps her window open a crack on even the coldest nights so she can be sure to hear her meowing at the back door. When we go out of town she leaves her beloved pillow pet unicorn on her bed because she knows Sookie will want to sleep on it. We often find Sookie laying across Paisley's head in the morning.
The morning of a birthday is so exciting!!!

The cupcake cake!

The bike!

I love this of Zeke. Adorbs.
On Sunday Paisley kept asking when her cousins were arriving for her party. Uhhhhhh.....
A quick skype to the Whitmores and they complied! Soooooo nice.....

Granny and Grandpa Taylor are at the Conference Center on Sundays for their Mission. We were glad to have Grandma and Grandpa Geertsen! Everyone made it fun and festive and made Paisley feel loved on her eighth year!
Now we count down to the baptism and confirmation!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
