It's Halloween time!

Cousin, Chris, Dave, Bryce, Jonny & Jared
Here's a funny pic of our friend group from a Halloween past. We all met up at Daves and I did all the boys makeup. Then we all went out to dinner to Los Hermanos in Lindon. Fun, memorable night!

I've been getting the back patio decked for our Halloween Party! It will be fun to host this after about 5 years of not hosting. It was getting too cramped in our tiny house, and now we have more room to spread out! Yippee!!!

Just look at this bunch! My goodness, we are quite the group!

I wanted a group photo, but didn't want anyone to miss being in the photo- so I ran to our next door neighbors and asked the guy (who I don't really know) if he'd come take it. He only speaks Spanish, so I acted it out and he understood enough!)
Of course, it is the most fun to greet everyone as they arrive.

I was a fancy old lady. Not too far from my real self.

Someone noticed mommy's hand was very swollen with a large wound on the back of her hand. It looked horrible! She was holding it carefully so not to bump it. She fell in the shower about a week ago and it clearly had gotten infected. It really was so concerning and sort of took over the night! None of us felt good about just sending her on her way and hope for the best. Sadie and Brent were the super-hero's and took her to Instacare. They agreed it was not good, and put her on anti-biotics to clear the infection. Daddy kept sending us pic updates and a week later looked so much better. We all worry so much about them. This really has never stopped my whole life. Are they ok? Do they have what they need? Always a concern and worry. Always.

Evening fall house

Jonny took me to the Opera! He bought us tickets to The Shining. That's right- The Shining all sung in Opera! They put the words up on that long white screen as they sang, which I appreciated.
It's been a while since I've been at Capitol Theater. It is so lovely!

For my Birthday gathering with my CRU, we tried weird things. Everyone brought tinned sardines and crackers with strange spreads and pickled things. I contributed vegetarian caviar, tea's and cocoa's.
It was quite the spread and believe it or not, quite filling!

Jon and I are headed to my work gathering, a Murder-Mystery night! Meredith hosts this every year. Our assigned characters this year were all of the characters from Grease. I was Frenchie, the Beauty School Drop-Out. Jon was the lead member of the Scorpions Gang. We looked great!

Paisley took our pic and added this adorable shot-

(I was the murderer)

Something super sad that happened in October, was one Sunday afternoon, Kim texted me that her daughter had taken her life the night before. My heart was so heavy at church. I came home and just had to go see her and give her a hug. I baked a plate of cookies and ran over to her house. There, was her mom, Margaret, and Steff. They were just chatting in the living room with another friend, remembering Ashlyn. She was 27. It was good to hear stories and cry with them. I can't imagine what Kim is going through, it's too hard! I love her so much. She is very overwhelmed at what needs to be done, but is surrounded by a lot of love.

Jon and I attended the viewing. Michael Ray Carter was there- that was wild to see him. Talking to him, he is exactly the same. It was good to see the Hundley family, it has been so many years. Strange how you can grow up next to people, they are a huge part of your every day life, and then just don't really see them anymore. But as we gathered, there was so much to chat about. I talked with Nick for quite a while. There is such comfort in that history!

Ashlyn's funeral was lovely- and sad. Oh Kim! My heart hurts so badly for my dear friend! It was so good to gather with the girls and rally around her.

Even Dave flew in to support and give love, which was so sweet. It is always so good to see him. He lives in AZ now with his family. Love you forever, Kimbo!

Zeke wanted to be a Wizard for Halloween. So, a Wizard he shall be!

And I dare say, never a cuter one there was.
Jelly Daddy.
Strange things are a-foot in the breakfast nook.

What once was...

Is now morphing into something else! You'll see...

Adren and Ella wanted to go to a haunted house. When the other kids heard about it they were all IN. I loved that they were all together and had to take a screen shot of her post.

This house is a fall, for sure!

Paisley has been promoted to Prep Cook at work, and now has uniform #3! DARLING.

I love October so much- I always wish this month would slooooooow down so that I can take in the cooler days and cozy evenings a little longer. It always feels like winding down after a long day of hard work.

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
