Yellowstone 2017

Jon planned and booked a Yellowstone trip during the summer for fall break. I was really looking forward to this. I've wanted the kids to experience Yellowstone and it has been a destination on my "list" which I keep in my head. The kids weren't sure what to expect.
We headed out Thursday and while our destination wasn't too far, it's still a several hour drive in the car. At one point the kids were bored of  movies so I found some stories to listen to online. It was neat to see the new Star Valley temple right before dedication. As we drove through Cokeville we decided finding the Elementary School was a must- we drove right to it! We could tell school was in session so the kids refused to get out of the van for a picture, so this is what we got:
Our hotel was in Jackson Hole which is where Jon and I honeymooned. I love this little town! It's sort of like a smaller scale Park City. Our hotel was great. Really, the only guideline we have is that there is an indoor pool. There was- about the size of our kitchen island. I told the kids that if that were in our backyard they'd be thrilled and never get out. They agreed and swam away.

Our first night we walked around the little town and ate at a seriously delicious burger joint. It was sooo cold so naturally we all got an ice cream cone for the frigid walk back to the hotel. It was so delightful! The kids loved exploring the little town.
The next morning after the complimentary breakfast at the hotel we made our way to Yellowstone ~which was still almost two hours away! Since it was off season and most everything was closed I think I'd still stay in Jackson.

A more glorious day it could not be!

That SKY!

 The highly anticipated Old Faithful.

Wouldn't you know I got sick the day before and while walking through the park had those drippy eyes and nose and sinus pressure. Ugh. No fun. We probably would have explored some more, but I was not feeling it. We felt satisfied we had seen enough geysers and pools and just really enjoyed strolling around the lovely park. And those Tetons! Wowsers.

The next day the kids swam-swam-swam, watched the Cartoon Network in the hotel, made mug after mug of the complimentary hot coco and we all went out exploring the little town some more. We ate at a yummy pizza place that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, so that was cool. We saw a movie and shopped around for some little treasures and found a fun park to play at for a bit.

The scenic lift had just closed the weekend before. It's still worth it to go off season, I say!

We all agreed Yellowstone/ Jackson Hole Fall Break 2016 was The Best!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
