Zeke is finally SIX

Aw, sweet, spunky little Zekey bears. He's smart, knows he's funny, and also knows what he wants. His birthday list was making me lose sleep so I had to have a chat with him about keeping realistic expectations. He kept talking about this crazy friend party and all he wanted to accomplish at this party. He really doesn't have any friends of his own, and I've never thrown a friend party for any of my kids until 1st grade, so I told him in detail how his big was going to go down, and he was thrilled. It wasn't until late that night he said, "Wait! What about my friend party!"  So, we went over all the fun of the day again and he was satisfied. Phew.
Zeke was up bright and early waiting for his older sibling to get dressed for school to come down and see the birthday room.
They really are just as excited!
The cake!
I feel like I've been taking the easy way out lately with the cake situation. Abby mentioned she let Graham go to the bakery and pick out his own. I suggested that to Zeke and he said, "No, I just want the birthday fairy to bring mine." Gulp.

This is how we do it: We open presents first thing. Some times the kids dictate the traditions, right?

Zeke went on to have the best day ever! He brought a little bag of treats to share with his class and was sung to. He was recognized all day long, just as he'd hoped.
His birthday fell on a Friday, which was also the ward dinner party. I was helping a bit with that, so I really talked it up and he was looking forward to it. After dinner the primary kids went off and played games, then we all gathered for a closing prayer in the gym. Before I knew it I heard Zekes voice on the microphone, telling the Bishop it was his 6th birthday and he'd like to get sung to. So the ward obliged and sang to him. I asked him later how that came about, and he said he was sitting there knowing the night was coming to an end, and he just had to say something or he wouldn't get sung to.
Getting ready for the ward party
We came home and lit that cake and sang some more. We sure love our six year old Zeke!
I love this face. It tells me all his wildest dreams came true.

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
