Adren turns 10!

So strange to have a TEN year old! We're in double digits, people! What a sweet boy Adren is, we sure are crazy about him. He is very sensitive towards others feelings, and a wonderful big brother. While he loves to tease and wrestle a bit too rough and is a little sneaky, he still can be so sweet with Eli, Paisley and Zeke. He certainly keeps me on my toes- if there is crying or trouble, it is usually always because of him. But, he helps me out so much! He is quite the gentleman, he always holds open doors~ when I'm getting out of the car he yells, Wait! and runs around to open it for me. He's good about asking if there is anything he can do to help, and is good at complimenting. His fourth grade teacher said she's never had a student so thoughtful and respectful. He is so smart and is doing so well in school. All the things I struggled with, he learns and memorizes and does with ease. He loves to draw and will often sit with pencil and paper, creating things~ just as I did at that age. He is very good with his hands. I love that he still has so much little boy in him! He still playes with his army guys in his room- full sound effects while deep in imagination and play. He still loves to dress up in costumes and play outside. I hope I still have more time watching him do this, I love it. He loves anything army and guns. He loves sports~ playing more than watching. He is often in the backyard kicking a soccer ball around, or shooting hoops on the driveway. He still loves that sandbox and will spend all evening out there digging and playing. He really likes playing video games and telling me about things he's built and created on his game. He's into all things pig right now for some reason. He loves pigs, draws them, collects them~ and all things pink for that matter. He loves when I sit and chat with him at night after bedtime. He requests this almost every night. He just wants to talk, and me to sing him a song or tell him a story. I'm always so tired at that time, and ready for some alone time, but I try to do it as much as I can. He always gives me a hug and and a kiss good-bye. He'll run back inside if he forgot. He has the sweetest testimony and likes the opportunity to bear it. He really makes our family special and I think about him all the time, I just love him so much. We have lots of talks about all sort of things. I feel like I have a really special relationship with Adren that I really cherish.

He really was looking forward to having a friend party. I suggested a "late-night" pizza and movie type of thing, and he liked it!
The house was full and crazy with friends. They went on a neighborhood scavenger hunt, finding things related to Adren. They played glow-in-the-dark Kick the Can, and just enjoyed running around crazy.

They watched "Hotel Transylvania" with plenty of treats!
It was an easier party to throw, so I was grateful for that!
Sunday is the actual Birthday, it's always so fun to draw out the festivities!

We had plenty of cousins and Grandparents over for eats and cake. I know Adren felt really special on his day. I know he knows how much we love him so!

He requested the same no-bake cheesecake Jon does. Turns out he's not a big fan of cake either, just like his dad.

We sure love our sweet, handsome Adren!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
