Fall Break 2013 in California!

I was really looking forward to visiting Jen in California, seeing her new house, catching up and having fun! She and Brad have been in California since June. It worked out great to go during the kids fall break. We left on Wednesday after school and work and stayed the night in the Hurricane house. We were ready to hit the road bright and early Thursday morning. (well, sort of early.)
We were able to steer clear of California traffic and made it to Tamecula, where Jen & Brad live. Her house is so pretty! She has such a great style and it was fun to see all her familiar stuff and hear all her grand plans for the house. We had so much fun, and I wish we'd had at least one or two more days to fit it all in! My favorite was just sitting and chatting in the mornings as we'd wait for the kids to come down for breakfast, or after they went to bed. We can chat and chat and chat ....
The beach was a must! It was chilly, but the kids didn't care. They boogie boarded and played in the sand, we brought lunch and had a great time.

Paisley and Alivia never stopped playing. They have so much fun together! And Adren and Eli loved spending time with Jonah. He was so busy with school stuff and football, but they were able to fit in some play time.
Jen will do a photo bomb any chance she can get.
When we talk about the beach, Zeke brings up that is when he almost drowned. I don't recall this at all. He even told the Doctor that he got his cast wet when he almost drowned in the ocean. The Doctor looked at me wide-eyed. I just shrugged.
We were able to go out to a yummy seafood dinner with friends, which was such a fun night! I never laugh so hard like I do with Jen, it was so much fun to be together at a gorgeous spot right by the beach as the sun was setting!
I love Jen to pieces and don't know what I'd do without a pal like her in my life!
The next day we were off to LEGO LAND! We had slipped a little brochure under Adren's pillow at bedtime on his birthday. The boys remembered when we'd gone before, and all were sooooo excited!

The weather was gorgeous and perfect! Legoland was all decked out for Halloween. We were able to make it to all the fun rides, but our favorite was those little Lego towns and we had to keep going back to stare.

My favorite ride to watch the kids on is the little town where they get to drive little cars around and wait at stop lights. It's so cute!

This ship was impressive. All the Star Wars displays were right up the kids alley.

We caught a four-D movie. Front row, baby!
Zeke wanted a ride with the Lego family.

It was sad to say good-bye to the Larsen's. Jen was a great host and I can't wait until we can make it back!

On the way home we just had to stop at Calico, a little mining town near Barstow. We love to look at the old homes, school house, and even explore part of a mine. We can always find fun treasures in the cute little shops along the street.

We got in to Hurricane late and decided to stay two nights! It was fun relaxing and the kids ran around and played and played. They really love that backyard at that house.
Hooray for Fall Break 2013!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
