The day before Paisley's big 14th, the governor announced a statewide mask mandate and no large groups. This changed some plans in the works for Paisley, but we still managed to celebrate our girl all day long.
Can you even believe this sweet thing? We all got up early to give her love, and for the first time ever, gifts were not opened until after school.
She really wanted to go shopping with friends on her big day, but instead it was just the two of us. We found the cute skirt and sweater she hadn't stopped thinking about for weeks, got a little birthday treat, and really had the best time.
After dinner we cut into her requested cake: No-bake cheesecake with fruit on top!
Paisley is a dear. I love hearing about her 8th grade friend drama, I love that she likes to hear my stories of growing up, I love that in the evenings if I'm in my room she'll find me and ask if we can watch something together. She has dived into Harry Potter and we'll talk about where she is in the book, as she wipes tears away. I don't have to remind you of her tender heart towards Sookie~ or anyone going through a hard time. She has a heart of gold. I imagine she is a fun friend to have. I often tell her I would have loved to be her friend, because she is so inclusive, silly, entertaining and kind. She always looks so darling. She washes her face every night and brushes out her long hair. She experiments with makeup after school, and is always up for me doing her makeup, which is fun. I love how she thinks through what she wants to wear, what hairstyle will go with that look, what she will be doing- she is always prepared with an extra jacket or a bag with stuff. After leaving family's house late at night, we all pile in the car and Paisley whips out a pillow and blanket she thought before-hand to bring for the sleepy ride home. She's already planning a trip to Europe after graduation with friend Esme, and I like that she is thinking ahead. (Weather it happens or not.) She is open to my guidance and teaching, but sometimes will say, "That's your opinion, I don't think I feel that way." And it makes me proud of her. I can't believe she has managed straight A's in 8th grade! Whaaaaat??? My little girl who's had an IEP up through 7th grade. She's a real hard worker, I never have to get on her to do school work.

She's just easy peasy.
We love you, Paisley Elaine!!!
