Since it will just be our family on this day, we discussed what we wanted it to look like. Jon and I told the kids we were open to any menu- anything, really! Everyone wanted the traditional meal, and I was glad. We made assignments so everyone was in charge of two dishes. I started my planning and shopping~ How exciting!
Look at me- I pulled all the dishes we would need, and got everything labeled.I even had an itinerary of phase 1 and phase 2. Who needed to get started first thing (Jon- turkey, Adren- jello, Me- rolls etc.)
I set the table the night before. I was pleased to find everything from my fabric stash and fruit bowl. It looked lovely and got the kids excited for an extra-special meal!
Paisley made cute name tags.
Finally, the turkey was done and we could get started!
Paisley was in charge of a "Festive Drink" and did it beautifully.Carving a turkey calls for overalls, ya know...
It was truly lovely. It felt cozy and festive, just us in our home. A Thanksgiving to remember! We just hung around at home, watching movies- But not Christmas movies yet. Paisley will not allow that until Dec. 1st. That goes for Christmas music as well. I had to chuckle- I assembled some cute Christmas wreaths for the front door while she was at school. The doorbell cam shows her walking up to the door covering her eyes. Funny girl.
The boys enjoyed playing games in their crazy room. I enjoyed them not running off with friends!
The next day was fun to gather with family at Cash's house. More food, lots of chatting and good times!
