It's time to get the house haunted, pumpkins carved, party invites out and costumes dreamed up and created!
We thought it would be fun to do a "Zombie Prom" theme this year for our party. The perfect invite was to zombify our old high school Prom picture. Jon did a great job.!
He also made a Zombie apocalypse kit, which I thought turned out pretty cool. It is now hung in our garage. Ya never know....
I think my favorite thing about hosting our annual party is the moment families start arriving. I love seeing everyone come through the door in costume! Everyone gets so creative and looks great! From Granny and Grandpa, down to the little Zombie babies. It's so fun to have
everyone together. All
42 of us!

I set up the garage for the kids to eat. There was plenty of monterey chicken, salads, potatoes, and dessert. Those cousins sure love to be together!

Man, do I love these peeps!
We had a little Halloween celebration for our own little family a few nights later with a festive cake, and Halloween globes. Oooooooh!
And of course, the shopping, choosing and carving of the pumpkins and roasting of the seeds:
We met up with Granny and Grandpa, the Whitmores and Taylors for the Halloween Train. It seems to get more elaborate each year, much to Paisley's terror. She opted to stay safely with Granny off to the side when it was time to board. She has decided she actually really likes Halloween now that it is an option to not
have to ride that Halloween train!
By the time Halloween actually arrives, the costumes are ripped and dirty and accessories lost. I cleaned them up as best as I could for the school parade. Paisley was so excited to
finally be a part of it!
 |
| After the kids made the large loop around the playground, track and tennis courts for the parade and it was time to go, and we had walked to the far end of the school, I realized we'd parked on the opposite end of the school. When I told them they collapsed and looked like this. |
Halloween day had finally arrived! We anxiously awaited the Whitmores to arrive, grandparents Taylor's and Geertsen's for a Halloween dinner of soup and chili to fill those excited bellies before Trick-or-Treating.
Jon always gets in costume before heading out with kids. What a good sport!
I was so excited for little Zeke to venture out for the first time. I love our tradition of a house full of family on Halloween.
I love to sit around and chat with Eliza, my parents and Sharon (Paul was home sick, boo!) while the doorbell rings non-stop and the dad's are out with the kids. I love seeing all the kids from the neighborhood at the door. It was a gorgeous, warm evening so we had plenty of visitors. I'd grabbed an extra bag or two of candy at the last minute, and Eliza brought a big bag to contribute and we were about empty by the end of the night. By the time the group made it back their bags were full. Happy Halloween!
The next morning I shoved an orange in Eli's mouth~ it made me feel a little better.
