Happy Quinceañera!

I thought the mountains looked like watercolors this day.

At the end of the school year, Zeke was asked by his good friend, Natalie if he would be her Chambelan for her upcoming Quinceanera in August. I wasn't totally sure what this entailed, but Zeke said it was kind of a big deal and he needed to commit to a summer of dance practices. He was able to make most of them, which were hours at a time and increased towards the end of the summer. Then came a list of specific clothing and shoe items. Okay...

One of the final rehearsal's was when we were up at Miner's with the family. The dance instructor and Natalie's mom almost drove all the way up to our campsite to get Zeke and then bring him all the way back up afterwards, but decided to cover everything at another, extended practice. Zeke said this was no joke! There were two different dances he had to learn, plus escorting her around and specific places to sit, etiquette and bowing etc.

The day of, he got up early and got all of his stuff together. I ended up only having to buy one dress shirt. It is the exact green of Natalie's dress. Her family approved his dress pants that we already had and he luckily was able to track down some (normal) pant size black jeans that I was real curious to see him in. They wanted him to wear square-toed brown and black cowboy boots (!) and with his size 12 feet, I wasn't sure if we'd find those. (They sent links to purchase, but no way is Zeke a cowboy boot wearing boy, so no way am I buying those.) But when Jon did a neighborhood shout-out, a nice guy in our ward happened to have a pair! He was sooo nice to lend them, and they were approved, thankfully!

Zeke looked so handsome heading out!
Of course Jon and I had to go and check out the dance portion. We were texting Zeke and he was letting us know when the dancing was about to begin so we could duck in and watch. It was all very fancy. They had a red carpet out front with guys standing guard. We had to explain who we were and why we were there and they let us in.

Zeke did a real nice job and he said it was really fun! It was so neat for Jon and I to see him dancing away, bowing, leading Natalie around the dance floor, bowing again and helping hold her dress. Everyone was speaking Spanish during the emotional toasting, but Zeke could follow along with his Portuguese and raised his glass and nodded at all the right parts including when they mentioned him. He let us know he probably wouldn't be home until 1 or 2 am because that is how these things go. Natalie's parents were so nice and generous. People kept coming up to us and bringing us chairs, plates of food and drinks. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. I've never felt so white.

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
