This n' That

Remember when I said the Sookie pillow catches me off guard? It is always a surprise to see her nestled in Paisley's bed, her favorite place.

Speaking of bed being a favorite place...
I snuck a pic of Adren zonked out in his bed as I left for work. This room is bonkers! He stays up all night! He sleeps half the day away and I only see him the few minutes it takes him to walk out to his car for work. He is in that no-mans/ limbo-land. I suppose we both know these days are numbered so it is allowed, but I also know he is tired of this life-style. He has put in his mission papers, so now we wait! A productive life is on its way!

These brothers...

Look at me, hemming and hawing over these thrifted kitchen chairs that aren't working anymore. Cute, but too uncomfortable and after the kids have rocked back in them so many times, not too sturdy.

I found some chairs to get excited about on facebook marketplace all the way up in Bountiful. The drive sounded lovely, to be honest so I committed. When I arrived at the house, I was so fascinated just standing in the entry, taking it all in. It took awhile for the frazzled husband to locate and bring up the chairs I was buying from his wife. I couldn't help but sneak a pic. He was all apologies, "Sorry, they were hard to find!" I can only imagine.

Dear Diana's home is the opposite~ so lovely! The CRU has decided to incorporate a teaching night into our gatherings. One of us hosts and teaches each other something. Diana is very much into skincare- and it shows! She invited us over for the most relaxing evening, teaching us about products and even giving us each a mini-facial, all while we sipped sparkling cider.

We all left fresh-faced and with little goody-bags she had put together for us.
It was fabulous!

My friend Kimberlee requested a pic of my bedroom TV setup for inspo so now
I will inspo you. The dresser that was holding her TV was too small. I told her she must get a mounted swivel-arm. Get that mounted on the wall already! Free up that dresser to put some lovely things on it.
Those hospitals know what they're doing.
Just a few days later, Daddy called to ask about our TV sitting out in the garage after being replaced at Christmastime, offering to buy it from us. His had just buthted. I asked about his setup, and sure enough, his old TV was perched on a little table in their bedroom. Just a few days later Jon and I arrived with our old (but good as new!) TV and a swivel-arm mounting system. With some drilling and leveling and help from Eli, Paisley and Zeke while being fed pizza by mommy and daddy, they were all hooked up! Mommy and Daddy were so grateful, and I told them that we do it with the hopes our own kids will take care of us when we too are old.

It is now time for the Sweethearts dance and Paisley and friends have planned a day of fun. They all came back to our house to get ready after a day of Trax and shopping in SLC.

Then Connly came over to join Eli to get picked up by their dates.

Funny kids!
I set up a lovely spread for Paisley and her group to come back to.

Valentine's Day is coming, and I suggested to my CRU we do something kind for our husbands each day leading up to the 14th. We all got inspiration from each other each day.

One evening I had forgotten to put something out from the stash in my trunk. After rummaging a bit, Jon asked if there would be a treat for him that day. YES!
Then the big day arrived, Valentines Day! This was a big day because Adren's Mission Call has also arrived!!! But he works tonight so he is waiting to open it tomorrow!!!

Paisley used my phone to check out her Valentine's Eyes...

I knew that Presidents Day coming up would be the next possible long weekend to tackle the conference room at ACHF. I needed a three-day weekend to pull everything apart and then put it all back together. Almost everything in this room will need to stay, so I know it will be a lot of work for not a big impact.
I got started on Friday evening. I was all by myself and started pulling furniture away from the walls so I could start taping and painting.
I figured I could divide it up by day and be done by Monday night. I don't love being at the office by myself at night, but I listened to podcasts and a book and then I always call Jon as I leave in the pitch black so that he'll know if I get snatched.

It definitely looked worse before it looked better!
There really was a lot of stuff to get rid of. So many dusty plants and knick-knacks and miscellaneous furniture. For the most part, I knew Kent would be fine with me getting rid of things, but to be safe I moved it all down to the warehouse until I got the go-ahead to donate.
Jon came in Sunday night and helped me move the heavy stuff back into place. And to repair the corner desk I broke somehow. Oops! I texted Kent during Sunday School: "You aren't going into the office tomorrow, ok?" He agreed not to see it until it was ready.
Ta-Da!

It looks cute to see the adjoining rooms with the colors.

I assure you it looks cleaner, fresher, less cluttered and everyone is happy with it so it is a success! Since these pics I have hung more art and added a shelf to corral the more meaningful knick-knacks. Now I am done with all of the big office projects. Probably.
Having that done, it is nice to be able to chill with my Paisley girl and hear all about how she is planning on quitting Jamestowne because the crazy scheduling is really bumming her out.
She was just called to be the Laurel class President and because of work she misses most weeknight activities and now even a lot of Sundays. She said she needs to take this calling seriously and to do so she must quit. I admire that about her.

Adren is still sleeping...

My friend Jen sent me a pic of her cute entry table, excited about the new print she had just received. I texted back this pic, my bedside table setup with the same print!
Here is how the main areas of the house are looking these days...
Fresh couch pillows.

And fresh rugs.

It is feeling cozy! Good thing because the snow just comes and comes. I have never seen so much snow since we've lived here! It has gotten so deep at times, then it snows again. It seems every few days there is a snowstorm and it snows in-between those. I don't mind so much because we need it so! It is a real blessing. And it will stop eventually, right?

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
