A Miracle at the very end of March

While the kids are in charge and have a rotation of cleaning up their bathroom, I know all the boxes don't get checked. Paisley is the most thorough on her week, and sometimes will complain to me that it gets pretty rough. Oh dear.
Every so often I will go in and do the deepest clean: I wipe down all the walls and baseboards, I clean each slat of blinds and window sill, I scrub all around and in the toilet, tub and sink. I scrub the grout, polish the light fixtures, window and mirror. As I finished I went over the floor one more time and did not see one speck on dirt on my rag. It was cleeeeaaaaaaaan.  I feel like it motivates the boys to keep up on it, at least for a little while. I still really like the refresh we did in here. It is a pretty bathroom, and I am grateful it is so large, it has been great for all four kiddos to share over the years.

On Mallerie and Gavin's wedding day clear down in Hawaii, it was all I could think about. I texted Abby, dying to hear how things were going and to see some pics! She sent me these and told me how special the day was. I mean~ gorgeous, right?

At one point Ashley, Sadie and I were texting flight prices and hotel options. We wanted to show up and surprise so badly! I knew me going would would put a strain on things- but still went back and forth over it. We sure would have loved to be a part of it. Congrats to a very beautiful and happy couple!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

As I chatted with Jon from bed while he got ready for work, I told him to come to me and I pinched him. He-he. He, of course was wearing green and pinched me a million times over. It wasn't until I got out of bed I realized I was wearing green pants afterall! Sheeesh!

My CRU has been talking about a getaway for some time, and finally Mary just planned it! We stayed at her sister-in-laws home in St. George, she was so kind to offer it up to us. Mary made up this fun print-out to get us excited:
Isn't she the best?
We drove down in two seperate cars~ an early group, and a later group. We gabbed and gabbed the whole way down. When you are in a car with these ladies, you blink and you've arrived!
Diana, Mary, Mindy and Meee!

Mary even made a door-knocker! I tell ya- She really is the best!
We arrived and everyone got settled. I opted to have my own space and sleep in a loft area on a surprisingly comfortable mattress on the floor. Since the other car hadn't arrived yet, we went out to dinner. We found a very delicious Mexican restaurant that hit the spot. Then we thought we'd grab some ice-cream to take back to the house, but when Mindy pulled up to Walmart, none of us had it in us to go in- so we opted for Baskin Robin's nearby.
We all stayed up way too late, chatting, laughing- there were some tears- and just enjoying that none of us had to get home for anything.
The next morning we headed out for breakfast. Everything was so packed! St. George is the place to be. Since we had an hour wait, we checked out a new bakery- which was amazing. We all stocked up for later.
Breakfast was delicious. We hit some local shops, I showed them some of my favorites the Sista's like to check out when we're down there. We finally all hit a wall with full bellies, and having stayed up so late- we headed back to the house for a catnap. We were staying in a new development where every single house behind us was under construction. Diana and I couldn't resist touring a few. That evening we ordered dinner in, then sat in the community hot tub. We had plenty of treats from the bakery to nibble as we chatted some more back at the house while trying out beauty products. It really was just so nice to all be together and not have to end the night and get back home like our usual gatherings. I sure love each of these ladies. Everyone is so different and I have learned so much from each of them. I am very lucky to be a member of this CRU.

The next morning we spiffed up the house, packed up the cars and headed out. It was such a blizzard on the way home! Good grief, it seems those come out of nowhere in southern Utah. We were glad we were in Mindy's sturdy Marvel jeep and all made it home safely.
Mindy, Diana, Mary, Debra, kelly, Elizabeth, Meee!
Love these ladies sooo much!

A really big event is happening. Jon is finally doing Lasik Eye Surgery! He has talked about this for years. It has made him so nervous. Every time he gets to the end of his contacts he says, "I need to just get Lasik instead of ordering more contacts." He's really blind. He's had terrible sight since I've known him. He talks about how nice it would be on his hikes and camping if he didn't need to worry about bringing his "eye gear." Finally, as his contacts were nearing a re-order, he said he'd like to use our tax return for the surgery. He got two thumbs up from me!

I snapped this pic of him the morning of. He was so nervous! He kept pacing around, re-reading his pre-surgery instructions. Jonny...
We sat in a little room while they let his eyedrops and medication kick in. Jonny...
So close!
They had me sit in a room with a large window to watch. It goes so fast, it really is unbelievable how quick and simple this life-changing surgery is. I sure am grateful for these doctors and for their training and skill- my word!
Also- it seems like this should be available for every single person on the planet because good grief. Seeing is a big deal.
I kept praying that all would go well on the doctors end, and that Jon could get his head in a comfortable space and endure. Once they had one eye done, they had me go get the car to pull up out front. So fast!
Jon slept and rested most of the day. That evening while he watched TV or looked at his phone I kept saying, "Are you sure you should be doing that?" It was pretty amazing though that the next morning- just like that- he can see across the room! A real miracle.
He still has to wear his bifocals, but after a check-up we have hopes his sight will continue to improve. Almost every night as we lay in bed to watch our show, he marvels that he doesn't have to get up to take out his contacts. I'm just so happy for him! That has got to feel amazing.

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
