While the kids are in charge and have a rotation of cleaning up their bathroom, I know all the boxes don't get checked. Paisley is the most thorough on her week, and sometimes will complain to me that it gets pretty rough. Oh dear.
Every so often I will go in and do the deepest clean: I wipe down all the walls and baseboards, I clean each slat of blinds and window sill, I scrub all around and in the toilet, tub and sink. I scrub the grout, polish the light fixtures, window and mirror. As I finished I went over the floor one more time and did not see one speck on dirt on my rag. It was cleeeeaaaaaaaan. I feel like it motivates the boys to keep up on it, at least for a little while. I still really like the refresh we did in here. It is a pretty bathroom, and I am grateful it is so large, it has been great for all four kiddos to share over the years.
On Mallerie and Gavin's wedding day clear down in Hawaii, it was all I could think about. I texted Abby, dying to hear how things were going and to see some pics! She sent me these and told me how special the day was. I mean~ gorgeous, right?
At one point Ashley, Sadie and I were texting flight prices and hotel options. We wanted to show up and surprise so badly! I knew me going would would put a strain on things- but still went back and forth over it. We sure would have loved to be a part of it. Congrats to a very beautiful and happy couple!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
As I chatted with Jon from bed while he got ready for work, I told him to come to me and I pinched him. He-he. He, of course was wearing green and pinched me a million times over. It wasn't until I got out of bed I realized I was wearing green pants afterall! Sheeesh!
My CRU has been talking about a getaway for some time, and finally Mary just planned it! We stayed at her sister-in-laws home in St. George, she was so kind to offer it up to us. Mary made up this fun print-out to get us excited:
| Isn't she the best? |
We drove down in two seperate cars~ an early group, and a later group. We gabbed and gabbed the whole way down. When you are in a car with these ladies, you blink and you've arrived!
| Diana, Mary, Mindy and Meee! |
The next morning we spiffed up the house, packed up the cars and headed out. It was such a blizzard on the way home! Good grief, it seems those come out of nowhere in southern Utah. We were glad we were in Mindy's sturdy Marvel jeep and all made it home safely.

A really big event is happening. Jon is finally doing Lasik Eye Surgery! He has talked about this for years. It has made him so nervous. Every time he gets to the end of his contacts he says, "I need to just get Lasik instead of ordering more contacts." He's really blind. He's had terrible sight since I've known him. He talks about how nice it would be on his hikes and camping if he didn't need to worry about bringing his "eye gear." Finally, as his contacts were nearing a re-order, he said he'd like to use our tax return for the surgery. He got two thumbs up from me!
I snapped this pic of him the morning of. He was so nervous! He kept pacing around, re-reading his pre-surgery instructions. Jonny...
We sat in a little room while they let his eyedrops and medication kick in. Jonny...
Also- it seems like this should be available for every single person on the planet because good grief. Seeing is a big deal.
I kept praying that all would go well on the doctors end, and that Jon could get his head in a comfortable space and endure. Once they had one eye done, they had me go get the car to pull up out front. So fast!

So close!
They had me sit in a room with a large window to watch. It goes so fast, it really is unbelievable how quick and simple this life-changing surgery is. I sure am grateful for these doctors and for their training and skill- my word! Also- it seems like this should be available for every single person on the planet because good grief. Jon slept and rested most of the day. That evening while he watched TV or looked at his phone I kept saying, "Are you sure you should be doing that?" It was pretty amazing though that the next morning- just like that- he can see across the room! A real miracle.
He still has to wear his bifocals, but after a check-up we have hopes his sight will continue to improve. Almost every night as we lay in bed to watch our show, he marvels that he doesn't have to get up to take out his contacts. I'm just so happy for him! That has got to feel amazing.
