One night Eli came in my room and while chatting, told me he wanted to ask a girl to Homecoming. Her name is Chloe, and she's part of a fun new friend group he's joined this year. I got so excited and started throwing out ideas. She likes ice cream, and there is a wood crate in the garage D.I.-bound. Let's fill it with ice with a clever poem! Let's do it tonight! Within 30 minutes we were en-route to her house, poster made, ice cream and ice purchased from the corner store, Paisley happily recruited to help assemble as we drove.
Eli texted her twin sister on the way to see if she was still even up. She was, but rumor had it another boy was fixing to ask as well! (Now I'm worried that the twin sister isn't going to get asked! I'm also telling Eli it is good he listened to his mom and asked tonight!) Eli and Paisley assembled our creation while I crept down the street a little ways. SUCCESS!These dances for boys are so simple. Eli said he was fine wearing what he already had, but I suggested at least a new tie to match her. And to save his fresh white All-Stars for HoCo. He was at a loss for a corsage so I tried my hand at making one. It was so pretty! He doesn't have much money saved yet from his Papa Murphy's job, so he was grateful for this.
He came home from the day date at Color Me Mine to get ready. It was so fun to see my little Eli getting ready, figuring it all out. His very first date! So tender. His friend came over and they headed out together to pick up their dates. Their plan was to head up to Sundance to a friends cabin for a catered dinner they all pitched in on, then the dance. I was happy he saved some pictures from the group photos for me to see!
Darling, right?
