When Paisley finally lost her last baby tooth, it was time to set up a consultation for braces. I made one for Eli, too although he really does not want to bother. I know he'll be glad to have a straight, nice smile and he hoped he would qualify for Invisalign. When I scheduled it, the office warned they were booked out quite far, and then happened to have an open consult within the following week. During the consult, they happened to have a fresh opening for Paisley to get into braces the very next day! Eli had impressions taken right then and in one month he'd be on his way with his set of aligners. Clearly this was something weighing on me because boy did it feel good to have all this taken care of!
Paisley was so excited to get checked out of school but was a bundle of nerves going in, which is common for her with anything, really. She did have to get part of a baby tooth pulled out that had loosened then wedged itself between two teeth. It was weird. She chose green bands for the first round. Of course she looks so darling! She was starving as we left and wanted to really sink her teeth into a burger before it was too painful. We ran through In-N-Out and ate in the car while she marveled at how weird it felt. We learned the mess and maintenance braces will require after that meal. Yimma-Himma! Within hours her mouth was so tender and by morning she was too miserable to go to school.
Eli's appointment for Invisalign went great, and I don't even notice like I have with others that he is wearing them. Maybe he's just not one to show his teeth much when he talks- or smiles. (Maybe this will change all that.) He's such a responsible cutie with them. He's been so great to keep them in all day, get them right back in right after eating and changing them out every week. He, too stayed home the next day but I think it was more because Paisley got to and less because he was uncomfortable. I myself did a quick 6 month aligner program through SmileDirect over the winter just to do some slight straightening up, nothing drastic- and I know those aligner trays are going to get very tiresome in a few months! Luckily the prediction is only about a year for him.
I told them a nice straight smile is a gift we can give them that they will continue to appreciate the older they get. Your welcome!
