Our Laurels love that our Stake does a Laurel High Adventure each summer. I was looking forward to whatever they had planned this year. We met at the church bright and early, my advisor and I loaded up our cars and headed out to the address as instructed. I, being a ding-a-ling, got gabbing away and missed TWO exits and had to turn around. Then as I headed west out in the middle of what seemed like no-where, I could see we had most likely missed another turn-off. We arrived a little late, but had some good conversation! (typical Sis. Geertsen)
We spent the day out at a ranch with horses, a pool, a nice big lunch set up for us, a great message from the Stake President, and some archery.
They divided us up by wards and our group got to first ride this little rick-shaw pulled by an adorable little guy.
We then went on to learn about tips on riding horses, then ride the horses through an obstacle course.
Ok, what these pictures fail to show is the HEAT. My word this was a blazing HOT day! It drained us quickly. There was not a drop of shade.
Luckily there was a pool and we were dying to dive in when it was our time!
That water was warm. Not refreshing at all. I think I was still sweating in the pool.
Then on to archery. At this point we were all really dragging. We'd shoot our bows then have to go hunt for them in that heat. (I was glad I was a pretty good shot, and stuck all mine in the bails of hay, as opposed to shooting them in the field across the street. He-he)
Can't you just tell these girls are melting???
My advisor and I were really looking forward to heading out and cranking our A/C!
You better believe I took my carload straight to Maverik on the way home for a cold beverage!
