Much to be thankful for, Thanksgiving 2015!

I was really looking forward to Thanksgiving this year! Ashley and Cade made all the arrangements for our families to stay at a cabin at Yuba Lake. It was fabulous! Large, spacious, plenty of kitchen space for lots of cooking and baking. The cousins loved being together and play and run around and do their thing- and us Sista's stayed up so late chatting and chatting and doing our thing. So fun! It was the perfect getaway for us all to be together. This was the first I had seen Katrina since she'd left on her mission, it was good to see her and Giuseppe, newly engaged! (we really questioned if they even liked each other at the end of the weekend.)

We arrived the day before and celebrated Granny's big 70th that evening. We played some fun games all about Mommy, and had de~lish Birthday cake. We love Granny!!!

The big Thanksgiving day, all us gals were busy in the kitchen while the kids played and played. It was so chilly outside so they found other ways to entertain themselves.

The kids spent plenty of time sliding down the stairs in sleeping bags.
We had divided up dishes pretty good, but we were all together busy with our own projects all morning. It was great!

Cade and Ashley smoked their turkey outside~ it was a de-lish rotisserie flavor! Jon tackled our bird (his first) in the roaster and did really well! Everything was so delicious!

Then all the kids wanted to come to the kitchen and help us. They did really good- I appreciated help with the 10 lbs. of potatah's!

The tables and centerpieces were so pretty, it all looked so lovely. I don't know how Ashley had time or energy to pull all of that together! And that was the most delicious meal I've ever had. For reals.

These three cuties are ready to eat!

This is maybe my favorite shot of Eli of all time.

Look at our view! At night I had to just go out back and stand on the patio and take in the glorious night sky. It was the brightest moon I've ever seen, it lit up the lake so beautifully.
These kids are anxious to help because they are hungry!!!
Poor Sam was so hungry, and kept getting shooed away from the roll table. He finally fell asleep and missed dinner! When he woke up, he headed straight for the rolls and started eating, daring anyone to stop him. We didn't.
Sam had a quiet dinner to himself.
It is just so fun to all be together, laughing, talking, going through the pictures on our phones and catching up together. I am so thankful for my wonderful family. These kinds of gatherings are a little taste of heaven on earth.

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
