Island Park is a beautiful place. We sure were looking forward to being with all the fam together. The drive was a little over five hours, and it was fun for me to drive up through Idaho where I used to drive so often for work. We took the van so the kids would have a little more room to spread out. While we drove, Jon hit something. We pulled over to realize it was a piece of the VAN that fell of and we ran over. Jon walked around and picked up pieces off the road. I am so grateful for our spacecraft van! It really has transported us everywhere, and somehow keeps limping along.
We rafted the river in shifts that ran right behind our cabin. It was so relaxing and the water felt so refreshing. We also checked out the Jonny Sack Cabin, which was in the coziest location and water was so clear! The moose were so happy munching away on the crisp greens. We tried to imagine the place snowed in and iced over.Woodland Princess
The little gals put together a Talent Night for the first night, which then turned in to belting out Hamilton songs. Paisley was in heaven, as she has not stopped listening to the soundtrack! Zeke impressed by tying balloons into animals. When asked how he learned how to that, he responded: "Off the package of balloons." Finally, we were treated by Shafer and his ukulele serenading to us and then some we all joined in on. He has a real excellent voice!
Day number two was off bright and early to Yellowstone! It was so great going back with everyone- we saw so much more than when we went a few years ago.
I feel like I will look back with fondness at these full-blown teenage years where the kids are figuring out their style and grooming. If you look closely, you may spot Jon's old concert T and some thrifted pieces. Full-legged Dickeys that are rolled up a few too-high, if you ask me. But alas, no one does. Abby and I had a little chuckle over their look.
So close!
So pretty!
This waterfall was stunning! And the sound~ I could
sit right here for a bit every day.
It was time to head out and say our good-bye's and well wishes. We all piled in our vans and headed back home. Hooray for Taylor Family fun time!
We just had to drop by Preston, Idaho and find the Napoleon Dynamite houses and school. It took a little driving around, but the town is small enough. It was all very exciting! And what made it even more fun, was when we passed Cade and Ashley driving by doing the same thing! Then we all met up at a creamery in Logan to get some goooood eats to bring home.
Napoleon & Kip's home. They have a real friendly sign on the porch saying, Yes this is the house, yes you may take pictures. The family was out at the barn area and waved cheerily to us as we drove away. The famous bike rack scene.
Pedro's house. No sign~ and that tree has grown!
It was so fun to see how excited Paisley was about all of it.
Because it really is exciting!
