I think I will forever hear that phrase in Granny Woolf's laughing voice.
It was funny, because the night before a friend called to see what I had up my sleeve and to get ideas. I ran through a list of things I was going to get ready that night to prank everyone in the house. This was the last I thought of it until the next morning. I laid in bed thinking quickly of things I could do. I quietly tied all of Jon's underwear together in the drawer, dribbled some food coloring on his tooth brush, honey on his deodorant, and swapped the kids dresser drawers around in the dark.
As I got breakfast ready I flipped all the bar stools upside down... and served pink eggs and green muffins.
I waved good-bye to the kids as they hefted their backpacks on full of canned goods and jacket pockets stuffed with potatoes. I wrote on Jon's windshield, "April Fools!"That evening for dinner: CUPCAKES!
But really meatloaf and mashed potatoes. It was a good day. He-he. Granny would be proud.
