Happy 40th Birthday to Jonny!

I really wanted to do something special for this milestone Birthday for Jon. How strange my Jonny is going to be 40! We have known each other longer than we have not known each other. (We met on his birthday 21 years ago!)I know he loves little get-aways with just the two of us, and I know he loves to get together with and misses his old friends. It is still very difficult for us to do a get-away, and even harder to find an evening where friends are available and able to gather. I decided to tackle both. You only turn 40 once, right?
Abby, the darling, was more than willing to have our babes over the weekend, despite an especially busy one for her. So very generous and sweet. I booked us a room at the marvelous Marriott right downtown- as per her advice as well. I also made reservations at a great sushi restaurant for his big night, his fave.
The hotel did not disappoint. It was really fabulous, and the perfect spot near everything downtown. As we drove to the restaurant, I was so nervous! These surprise gatherings give me anxiety. But as we walked into the restaurant to our table, it was such a sight to see all the familiar faces, almost everyone was able to make it! And Jon was surprised and happy! Yay!
Four couples weren't able to come but sent their love.
It was great to catch up~ it's been years and years and so much has changed, but so fun to laugh about all the fun memories! In fact, it's been so long we all commented how strange it is to meet as grown-ups, parents- responsible adults! We all turned out all right.
Afterwards, we didn't' want to say good-night so we ended up at the Tavernacle, which was too loud and Jon got called up on stage because it was his Birthday, which wasn't his favorite.
He was a good sport about it.
The rest of the weekend was so lovely. I'd made reservations at a great Steak house the next night, we did lots of shopping, movies, and just being together.
Best wishes and love to you, Jon!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
