How strange to attend our first Blue and Gold Banquet with little Cub Scout Adren. He was new-born when I was in scouts helping plan these and it seemed like a lifetime when he'd actually be involved. His den was in charge of Flag Ceremony this night- and since there's only two of them, Adren had a lot to do! We practiced at home, how he'd ask the audience to please rise, start the Pledge, then offer the opening prayer. He didn't seem nervous one bit, and when I reminded him to bless the food, talk loud etc. he'd say, "I know, I know~ there's going to be a lot of people there". And there were! I was so proud of him, he didn't seem nervous one bit, standing up there looking so handsome. His prayer was real nice.
He earned another belt loop!
It was a "Luau" theme, and a performance by some youth in the ward~ we were chuckling because by then the kids were running around, and Zeke was fascinated by the kids in makeup and costume and had made his way up to the stage. The leader was getting the dancers together for a picture and saying, "Everyone scrunch together"~ Zeke took that as personal instruction and nestled right in.
