Summer is drawing to a close, but the kids were well aware Lagoon had not been crossed off the list. This has been a fun tradition to meet up with all the cousins and spend the day, however this year it worked out that everyone was busy doing other things, had already gone, or had moved out of State. So it boiled down to the Geertsen's and the Whitmore's. I honestly was gearing myself up for a crazy day of heat, counting heads, losing a kid or two, and long, long lines. But it turned out delightful!
I think last summer Zeke spent the day in the stroller. This year he wedged himself front and forward in every line. To spend the day in kiddie land with this happy kid was pure joy.
Paisley started out her usual Lagoon self, not wanting to go on anything. This car ride seemed to warm her up and she was game for all kiddie land had to offer after this. (Except that big, scary rollercoaster, "Puff".)
Lagoon + Cousin's= So much joy your head want's to explode!
That little Ane has no fear! She was up for anything, the only thing stopping her most of the time was her height. ~ And me unwilling to go on the "Space Scrambler" with her.....
It really was a perfect day. We could see it would be a very frazzling day without at least one other family. We'd split up with random groups of kids: Will has the older kids on Bombora, Eliza is nursing baby at the pavilion, I'm in kiddie land with the little girls, Jon is at the carousel with baby Z. We kept crossing paths and someone would announce where they were heading next, and the littel groups would switch up, depending on what everyone wanted to go on. We all took a late lunch/ early dinner break at the pavilion and pressed on.
At one point in the evening we kept getting right back on the carousel.
We stayed until closing time. Things were shutting down in kiddie land and Jon met up with me from Bombora. He asked if I'd seen his camera bag, we couldn't see it in the stroller. He went off to backtrack to see if he could find it. I was thinking it would be too bad if it was gone, but we seem to have to replace it every year or so and there really weren't any major pictures in it that I would be devastated to miss. He came back a while later, someone had turned it in to Lost and Found. Turns out it had his I.D., Debit card, our car keys... everything that really could have ruined the night! I mean, who wants to be stranded in Farmington at 11:00 at night??? (the Whitmore's had left a couple hours earlier) I'm glad I hadn't realized that while he'd been off searching.....
Hooray for Lagoon and nice people!!!
