Happy Easter!

Easter! How exciting! The day before Eli ran into the house a million times asking if it was time to dye eggs. I realized he'd rallied all the neighborhood friends, telling them all soon it would be time and they could join in. Sooooorrrry.

The kids dyed away, then continued playing with their little "friends". At one point Adren had them all in a row on the bench in the entryway, talking very sternly to them. It sounded like he was the school teacher.

That evening it was off to Grandma and Grandpa Geertsens for a delicious Easter dinner and egg hunt. Paul and Sharon had made a fabulous meal with ham, turkey, everything. We all pitched in to bring the eggs- it was a LOT of eggs! I love watching the cousins run around finding them all. They sure have a fun time together. It was fun to get together. I felt it had been a long time since I'd seen everyone.

We had some time to kill Easter morning while we waited upstairs for Jon to come home from his meetings. Since church is at 9 I got everyone bathed and myself ready since I knew we'd just be making it. They were excited to rummage through their baskets.

I'd included a bowl of cereal for breakfast. We got everyone dressed in their new Easter clothes. I felt like Paisley's dress was last minute~ it's one I'd made several months ago, just needed some finishing touches like a snap in the back, attach a felt flower etc. I hadn't intended it to be her Easter dress, but when I ran out last minute to grab new Sunday pants for the boys it was slim pickin's. I was glad to have that to pull out. She loved it. She came right home from church and hung it right back up, on the fireplace. Then when it was time to go to dinner up at the Goulding's, she ran back inside to grab it and laid it carefully on her lap. She said she wanted to show Granny. She proudly waved it around for all to see.

I found some matching shirts for Adren and Eli. Zeke looked adorable in his new digs. For me growing up, it was all about the Easter dress. The boys couldn't care less.
Our ward choir is fabulous and had prepared quiet the array of songs for sacrament meeting. It was wonderful! Primary seemed especially spiritual that day, and by Sr. Primary we were all so emotional, the chorister got up and could barely get through what he had planned. It was sweet to see the children wiping away tears. Later Adren told me he felt the spirit so strongly. I did too!
Jon had hidden a ton of eggs around the house so they got to those when we got home from church. Then headed up for a great Easter dinner at Sadie and Brents. It sure was fun to get together, just like old times. Maybe it's just me, but it didn't seem quite as crazy as in the past. I think a lot of this is because the "foursome" is a little older. Sadie would probably say different.
