I know Utah always needs lots of snow each winter, but this is the first one ever where I am crossing my fingers that things will stay dry during the concrete pours! While it was very chilly, it did stay dry!The excavator dudes were real nice. Chubby, smiley guys. The concrete guys are all little guys and such hard workers! Concrete looks like it is no joke. Such hard work aaalll day long! And it is such a small area. Then all of a sudden the lumber arrived! We are getting used to big semi's out in front of our house, blocking off half the road. This was such an exciting day to have a pile of lumber on our driveway!
It is always so fun to be able to see and catch up with those we don't see all the time. Everyone that is involved in ACHF is truly the best of the best!I was sitting in the front room on an early Monday morning and watched all the framers arrive. They seemed to have their own soundtrack with them. Rowdy big pick-up trucks, sunglasses, even a dog. Cussin', smokin', laughing at framer jokes and drinking their coffee. they were set up and sawing and pounding away in ten minutes.
Paisley and I were in awe, walking through their work after day one. This was all done in a day!
Before long, day two was knocked out like it ain't no thang.
What a difference a day makes!
The views out my bedroom windows look entirely different!
A new view out onto the driveway!
As soon as those framer dudes whistled for their dog and peeled out, we take a tour of their quick handy work.
The new roof cuts the window to Paisley's room in half. So this portion will have to wait to be framed in. The window is on the way, Jon will have to rip it out, re-frame and replace.
Those dudes and their dog were out of there by Thursday! That's right, they knocked that out in four days. As they were cleaning up and sweeping I went out to talk with them. As I praised their speed, one commented they just built a house that the primary closet was about the same size as our entire addition, so it was no big deal at all. Ha! They were real sweet under all that rowdy.
We talked among the family if we should mention much to Adren or let it all be a surprise. We decided we were all way to excited to not share the progress. He never really seemed to interested on what was happening or the progress. Huh.
We have Sweethearts coming up, people!
Good thing Paisley is a lil' sweetheart.
I don't make my way down towards the Bishops office foyer often, but when I do...
It was time for the annual ACHF Holiday party! This is the first one since I've been here that I wasn't in charge :) I was happy to pass this along to our new Events team member, Sarah. She is incredible and after she wasn't able to secure the place I've reserved the past two years, opted to hold it at our office. I mean, why not? We now have the space for such things! Sarah completely transformed the back meeting room into a cozy, festive dining hall!It is always so fun to be able to see and catch up with those we don't see all the time. | It feels darker in our family room, with the roof out on the new patio and no light coming in these windows. It will be interesting to see how it looks when the wall is opened! |
