Family Life

Jon was invited to the International Builders Show in Las Vegas in February. He was interested in going, but no one else from his work was. I told him I'd be happy to tag along, so we made plans. I looked forward to a little getaway, and it has been a long while since I've stayed in Las Vegas.
The drive down was lovely. Great weather and conversation. I love me some Jonny time. Then about four hours in, Jon got a phone call from the Provo High Nurse. Uh oh.
Zeke had dislocated his knee. He was just sitting in class and stretched his leg out and he felt a pop in his knee. When he pulled the yards of denim up, his knee was literally on the side of his leg. Yikes!
His teacher had helped him sit on the floor and called the paramedics. En-route, it popped back in. Zeke said he wasn't necessarily in much pain, he just felt uncomfortable pressure and stretching. Yikes!
I felt bad that we were heading out of town, but the paramedics said there really wasn't a need for medical care. They said there would likely be some swelling over the next couple days, so keep it iced and wrapped. The bad thing is that once this happens, it is likely to happen again- and if it happens again, it is even more likely for it to continue throughout your life. Yikes, yikes!
Poor Zeke had quite the crowd gathered round in a bit of a scary situation. He said it was fine. His friends took a lot of pictures and he passed them on to me.

Jon and I chuckled after calling Eli. When he answered the phone, Jon asked him if he could go pick up Zeke at the school. He told him he had dislocated his knee and might need some help out to the car. Once they get home, if he could help getting him an ice bag and Zeke will need to take easy, so help him out. Eli's response. "Ok! Bye-".

We checked into our super nice hotel room and headed out for dinner. Las Vegas was so bonkers. We tried to get a little distance from the strip so we wouldn't have a long wait time for dinner. We found a mediterranean restaurant. We were the only ones in there! The waitress was very chatty and attentive. We got all the history of the place and we left feeling bad that it probably wont be around much longer.
Our hotel views were magnificent!
Good ol' Vegas!

It was neat to see the new Sphere!

We spent most of the days at the convention, working our way through booths. I would look around while Jon chatted with people. The convention center is massive. On the last day I had a work call and a little shopping I wanted to do, so I dropped Jon off. I enjoyed spending some time at my favorite stores in Las Vegas, got a car wash and did some work. I picked up Jon when he had seen all he wanted to and we headed on home.

Now I'm always worried about Zeke's knee. He had to drop out of Lacrosse because of it, which is sad. It made his coach nervous as well and told him to come back next season.

Elder Geertsen update!

I continue to pour over the Gentries Insta posts, screenshot, zoom in to find my little A.

He calls every Monday evening. He is loving his mission and the people so much and it make me so happy to hear all about it. One evening at the end of the call he requested we have family prayer together at the end of our calls. Jon called on him to pray. He gave the most powerful and tender prayer! He prayed over each of us and to hear him pray for his siblings one by one made my heart swell. I peeked as I was wiping my tears away and saw that others were just as emotional. As soon as we said, "Amen" he cheerfully said, "Goodnight! Love ya!" He hung up and the rest of us laughed together still on the call, recovering. I love that boy so much!

I asked him if his new companion was the Better Call Saul guy. It's not.

I sent him a jolly St. Patty's package.

I go to lunch every month with the Stake RS & Primary Presidents. We call it WOLC (Women's Organization Leadership Council). It is so helpful to touch base, fill each other in on what is coming up and how we can support each other. It helps us feel more united in Stake Council. Four our upcoming Stake Women's Conference the three of us will be speaking together along with Pres. Hinckley's daughter.

The annual Easter brunch with Mommy & Daddy was delightful as always!

I hosted Book Group the month of March. I chose the book "Remarkably Bright Creatures" which is a really great read! I always enjoy putting together a yummy spread. I suggested we meet a little earlier- we always meet on the 4th Saturday at 1pm. Everyone agreed 1-3 is smack in the middle of usually busy Saturdays. I served a bagel bar with all kinds of savory and sweet toppings. De-lish!
It was on the actual day of Kelly's birthday, so we had to celebrate!
I sure appreciate the mountains a little more as I hear from Adren how much he misses them. I take lots of pics while out and about to send him.

More Adren spottings!

After Women's Conference Jon, Paisley and I went up to SLC to Abravanel Hall to hear the SLC Orchestra perform music by Danny Elfman. At first we thought he would be there conducting- no. That's ok, we love his music. But it turns out it was new music he wrote specifically to be performed by an orchestra. It was still neat to be in the hall, listen to a live orchestra and be with Paisley. It was a rainy night walking around downtown and we loved it all.

Paisley has been asked to Prom by Remy. We have started dress shopping and having fun trying on all different dresses. We found a fun dress store in the mall and it has given her a lot to think over. Exciting times!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
