First Day of School!

First day where all four kids are all at the same school, all full day.
Little A is starting 6th grade (!) with Mrs. Rose. I hear she's not the super strict one, but also not the one who lets kids get away with things, she's right in the middle. She'll be great for Adren, I can tell.

Eli is starting 5th grade with Mr. Arney. He's already had Mrs. Arney, and she was a favorite so he's excited!
Paisley is in 3rd grade with Miss. Titmus (Miss. T) If you want to get a good feel for how she is, picture Stephanie Hundley. She is her double. It's crazy!!!
Little Zeke in big 1st grade with Mrs. Barnes in the afternoon and Professora Loftus in the morning. I know he'll catch on to his Portuguese lessons quickly, because that is just how he is. This picture makes my heart hurt a little. All for good reasons, though.
Here's the bunch off to school. Of course, Pedro is a staple in our house, so we had to include him!

Of course I had to sneak a peak in the rooms after I dropped them off.

People have asked me, "What in the world are you going to do with all your free time???" I remember watching friends with older kids, all in school all day and couldn't even imagine that life in my future. I would think up all kinds of wonderful ways I would surely fill my time all day. But then you get here and it's a bit of an anti-climax. The truth is, the kids have gradually gotten older and more independent, and able to be left alone, or they're gone half the day playing off in the neighborhood somewhere. I already find myself in an empty house for several hours in the summer time while kids are off playing, or I'll be able to run errands on my own. And I feel like life is busier than ever! That 3 o'clock comes so fast, I rarely get everything done I had on my list by then. So I guess the dreams I had of me in a quiet, clean house, crawling back into bed and napping the day away, or watching movie marathons on the couch until the school bell rings really aren't reality. I could do that, but now it would stress me out more than being at home with three in diapers, scrubbing peanut butter out of the carpet and up to my eyeballs in laundry and sleep deprived. Funny how life changes. It's like my mom telling me that now when she can finally sleep all she'd like to, she can't. Her older body doesn't let her fall into a consistent, restful sleep. So the answer to that question, "What are you going to do with yourself all day???"...... Is.... Exactly what I do every other day, just without the kids around while I do it.
However, Jon and I have slipped away on several occasions to a matinee~ that is always an extra treat!

The Exciting and Miscellaneous

Zeke got his learners!!! This was easy-peasy, first try. He is an excellent driver, though he says he does not feel super confident. Maybe it is because it is kid number four, but I have all the confidence in him. What a guy! We had a fun family gathering at Cash's house. Fun because ALL of the Boc's were there. They haven't all been together for years- like since before Grayson's mission. They all gathered for Matt and Abby's 30th anniversary! Sooo sweet. Look at this bunch! I love this average summer day in the Geertsen household. I am working in my bathroom. I will share my game plan directly... Jonny... P-Day phone calls with Adren are the best. He just gets whomever is around, sometimes it's just the Parentals. I took this screenshot of Cade, Ashley and Jon all on Mount Timp! Many in the family joined that day. This is the second summit on that mountain in a month for Jonny! Just a pretty screenshot from the doorbell cam.   Paisley has been asked to Prom b...

May Celebrations and Love!

Our little Paisley and all of her little friends are graduating from High School and all of us mothers cannot believe it! My dear friend and current Young Women's President, Elin, set up a beautiful evening for the girls and mothers to celebrate each one of them. It was lovely and touching and very special. These girls are the best! Despite the scaffolding that has been a staple for way too many weeks I care to count, I always appreciate our coming-to-life spring yard. Everything is filling in nicely. It is amazing how big our trees and bushes have become in hardly no time! But that scaffolding! You can't really tell, but it is quite the maze to get in the front door. The porch area may need to be removed just so that people can enter safely on the Homecoming Day.  My friend Kelly reminded our CRU when we replaced our faces onto her family portrait when she arrived home from living abroad for a time. We so funny! More windows being installed. Hooray! I snapped these as I headed...

Happy Anniversary to Jon & Lindsey!

Happy 25 Years to us! We spent the weekend at Snowbird at the lovely resort. It was all so pretty! Our room had such gorgeous views of the mountainside. I texted this pic to Adren of Pfeifferhorn, a mountain he summited with his dad once. I looked at that, marveling that my boy has been there! We took the tram up to the top of the mountain to enjoy panoramic views all around. One of the days it was nice to say, "The only thing on our schedule is a tram ride and dinner reservations". After so much hussle, it was nice to not have a whole lot to do. Chillin' with Jonny was really nice and good for us. It was a good reminder that we really enjoy each other. I mean, we knew that, but it is nice to spend a weekend together when you don't have a million other things going on. When we got back, I dived right back into our big event at work, our annual Give Hope Gala. This one was fun because Jon got to attend with me. It was a fun evening with him and my work friends. Off we ...
